Yes that makes sense and I understand that it is a lot of work for you guys to organize. We are a small community here after all. Thanks for explaining and thanks for organizing this for us.
Shouldn't it be based on how many people sign up?
Hmm, very strange. I've never come across this problem yet.
This tends to happen with PCs that run on integrated graphics/on board video. If you don't have a video graphics card, this is the problem.
Thank you for the quick reply and the info. I plan to have the game fully routed by the end of the month and a full run soon after that. I look forward to running the game with you guys.
I am currently routing this game and was wondering, since the current run was done on easy mode, is easy going to be allowed? I need to know so I can route on the proper difficulty.
I've experimented with this only to delay stamina loss. How exactly are you causing infinite and what version of the game are you running?
Given that I am only a RE1 runner, I still feel obligated to give my opinion. Often times rng is a tough element to deal with in speed gaming and RE3 is one of those games. I am heavily against modding. Once you stray down that path, it's only going to be problems in the future as to where to draw the line. Creating new categories for this reason only degrades the previous categories. The rng in this game is absurdly annoying to deal with but players are still willing to endure it to get their times. This is what I respect so much about RE3 runners. Leave it alone...please.
Great strat. It's pretty much the same strat as PS version except for the walking part due to no aim cancel in this version. As with the PS version, the strat doesn't seem consistent but it is clearly the fastest way. It's up to the runner to decide if they want to grind it out or not. Consistency is most likely out of the question but it appears to be the fastest possible method so far. Good find man. I'll mess around with it soon and see if I can find any consistency.
I don't believe it works with Chris. I think I remember asking Seph about that. Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure his hitbox is too big for it to work, assuming his attack path with the knife is even the same as Jill's.
I'd like to see the video on it. Due to no aim cancel in PC, I assume it won't be as quick as the flamethrower strat for PS version. I haven't messed with Chris at all on PC so I'd like to see what you came up with.
Not trying to bust anyone's balls but I think this leaderboard lacks some vital information making it a pain in the ass for newcomers. How about an "everything you need to know to get started" thread? Especially for PC, limiting frames isn't common enough knowledge to go without a guide. Limiting frames isn't exactly a common thing to be done in a game. Enabling V-Sync isn't even listed in the rules, yet it's a rule! It may be obvious to you veterans but to a new comer, this is kind of vague.
I believe the rules are the same for every system so I think you can, yes. I'd wait for a mod to confirm this though.
I found that smg kills Yawn 2 faster with Jill. Not worth the menu time but in the future, there might be a use for the other weapons. As for Chris, I haven't tried yet. For future's sake, I agree with Seph and Wulfz and the ammo name. Lets just say we find a use for the alternate weapons and we name it RL, then we have a problem. Lets not make that mistake. Also, reminder that NG+ has enemies with more hp so it is different in that aspect, even if you run it without using the special weapons. It would actually change the route a little. Do whatever you want with that info.
I thought the idea was good. Just didn't want to get in the habit of making automated decisions. I'm open for discussion about it and you make some good points Zenix.
I didn't notice it until about 30 minutes ago either so clearly this was added without anybody's consent. I would suggest deleting it on principle at this point. If anyone has a good reason to have that added to the boards, make a thread and discuss it. I'd recommend removing it immediately for now. I'm not opposed to having it on there as I am very open-minded to speedrunning and players' choices in versions and platforms although I would never recommend this version to anybody haha.
All well said Wulfz. So just to remind everyone, Sephjul started this thread to bring this issue to an official decision. It may sound like a very silly thing to discuss but if we don't make a ruling on this, there is nothing stopping someone from abusing it in these ways. I'm glad to see everyone agree on almost every aspect of this and I also expected it to go this way. Even though this issue is simple and we all agree, it still had to take place so we can add it to the rules and have a clear understanding about it's use. In other words, we knew nobody would want this but now it's official and everyone is aware of it. Also, no new rules were added/changed without all of your opinions considered. This is a tradition we would like to keep because community decisions are always better than power hungry assholes making decisions on their own for everybody else. We always discuss every change, silly or not. Thank you for being mature and respectful through this process once again guys. Great job!
Also, I really fucking hate when I fuck a message up.
I worded that last post wrong. I meant we can ban it or allow it for Barry skip. Allowing it for open use is not reasonable at all. What seems logical to me is either full ban or allow it for Barry skip. I'm leaning more toward full ban because exceptions can get messy later on.
