Alright guys, you clearly want this so here's the deal. You give us 3 vods of completed runs of this from 3 different runners and you've got it. These runs must be RE1 runs, not other games. Once that is done, we'll add another verifier specifically for helping with this category, and only this category. Lets see it guys.

These leaderboards are busier than they've ever been right now and adding anything new at the moment would be a bit too much to handle for us. We're having a hard enough time keeping up with the submissions as it is. Maybe a bit later down the line, if people are still expressing interest in this, we might add it for you guys. My apologies.

RE1, and most leaderboards of relatively large communities are not easy to moderate and make all the best decisions for. Now that these leaderboards have aged, we have a pretty long history of changes at this point. They aren't always clear and obvious to understand and can be complicated at first but they have all been made with careful thought, discussion, and community feedback.
PC is just as free as emulation. Expanding emulation will definitely not popularize this game. PC is doing that just fine and this game has grown tremendously in the last year or so.
Specifically JIN is allowed, not FIN. JIN works on almost any machine. There have been a few reports of people not getting it to work but that's any emulator for you. PC version also has some cases of this for all 3 classic games. JIN may not be a very well known emulator but we provide a link to the download in the resources and setup guide so that shouldn't be an issue. New systems and technology will always give more ways to play old games but you have to draw the line somewhere. Eventually, there will be so many things to check just to verify runs for the sake of emulation. JIN is basically unzip and go and that's exactly what you want for accessibility, especially for people with language barriers. If problems running JIN was more common, then we'd probably have opened up for another emulator but almost everyone can run it fine.
No offense, but RE3's history of moderation isn't exactly a good example of how a leaderboard should be ran. It may be different now but many things have been handled poorly on that leaderboard the past few years. Everything that is in place here has been voted on by the majority of runners in the past. RE1 mods have heard enough BS about this stuff lately. If anybody has a problem with how things are in RE1, don't just ask us, ask the hundreds of runners who voted for all of this. Runners that actually understand the game and spend time with it. If you weren't around then, start asking questions and educate yourself.
People need to remove themselves from the belief that this game and that game does it, so this game should do it too. They may have the same name with a different number behind it but they are all very different games and they are FAR from equal in terms of how they are made and function. I see plenty of why not this and just do that. What I don't see enough of is people asking questions on why our rules are the way they are. For example, if we allowed other emulators, they would all be slower. Then what? People would be whining about seperating emulators. ePSXe, Bizhawk, and any other PS emulator you want to throw at it would all have slower times. JIN doesn't need any settings to be adjusted. There are answers for every single rule we have. Start asking questions if you want to understand why we do things the way we do instead of trying to change it because you don't understand.
Also, I believe you can ignore the autoaim by holding L1 before pressing R1 to aim. This should cancel the autoaim. In this case (recommended) you can use the strat that players use for PS console and emulator runs which is different than the PC strat.
I would recommend using the strat we use in the PC version. Check one of the top 3 runs to get a good look at how it is performed.
What mrzombieuk said is true but if you're still having issues with it, it is a known problem and the only known fix is to restart your PC. It's annoying but nothing we can do.
Just realized this wasn't the RE:DS boards and I'm not currently a mod here anymore lol. Pretty sure the mods will say the same though.
Again, we are sorry but we can't accept any other emulators. There are a lot of emulators these days and it's too much to test them all for accuracy and differences. We started with Desmume so we just stick to that to keep things more even. These newer emulators and mobile emulators will likely have many updates in the future and that makes it too complicated to keep up with all of them. If you're interested in running RE (Play Station version) there is a way to play it on a PSP, Vita, or PSTV. You mentioned you had a Vita so I would look into how to run it on that. I'm not sure about the recording part though. If possible, try to find a cheap recording device of some kind.
Most runners run the game in a window. Windowed is easier for streamers to manage their chat and other things, even with 2 monitors. Also, when you run the game in a window, it will not change your desktop resolution.
We only accept the Japanese version for PC runs. If you use a French version, it can't be accepted. I would recommend getting MediaKite version of Biohazard and use the REbirth patch on that. IGT should be the same for any PC version running with REbirth patch as long as you have correctly setup the IGT script in Livesplit. We also have guides on how to setup Livesplit and autosplitters. You can find these tools under "Resources" to the left there <--- You'll have to find the MediaKite ISO of the game on your own or ask for help within the community and runners for it. I assure you the IGT is probably fine. If you're losing time, remember, this game is very optimized in several categories. Just keep practicing and your time will get lower and lower.
I found a new glitch that allows Gabe to be boosted far into the air to get over boundaries and save time. This glitch works on almost all ledges in the game. I am still routing the game and looking for more ways to use this. I am playing on PPSSPP and have not tested this for the PS2 version yet. I will test that version today and update here when I have the info.
Category extensions in general are memes and aren't meant to be taken seriously. This is just for fun, not competition.
