Yes, WiiU is acceptable. Nearly half the runs done so far are on WiiU.
An ISO file is a rip of a disc image. If you're going to do a run, the game must be played on a physical disc and not a disc image of the game loaded from a USB drive or SD card.
@FancyQingFast
It means use a disc. No USB or SD loading.
You can submit a run to the leaderboard with in-game time, but it must also include real time as the leaderboards are not fully migrated to in-game time.
Here's the run in question: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/run/zn80vk8z Thanks for pointing this out. I've watched this run multiple times and I can't believe I didn't notice he took the cut. It's been removed from the No Skips leaderboard now.
Don't bother submitting milliseconds for the Real Time section of the submission page. Final times measured by LiveSplit are not accurate to milliseconds due to human error.
We will be using milliseconds for the In-Game Time section in the future, which is accurate to milliseconds. If you want to calculate your In-Game Time for your submission, feel free to do so.
@MaxDragonSoul Are you max#0448 on Discord?
A while back I made a post about my findings from recording in-game time (IGT) data for all the individual cup categories. That data can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ca6Hl5ra8b8rX3KSsgQKXDgenjlEpOOGvHBq6z1bjec/edit?usp=sharing
To make the transition to IGT for the whole leaderboard (except 100%), I'm going to first need help recording IGT times for the 32/Nitro/Retro categories.
I can keep up with the individual cup runs on my own for now, but I'm going to need some dedicated individuals to start recording the other categories.
I made a brief tutorial video of the process here:
If you're interested, let me know.
The average for balanced items is 2:57, with a range from 2:45 to 3:16. Bad RNG can really screw you though.
Not sure why you created a new thread. You can view my original response in this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/s2755/1#u75xx
There was a demand to add specific video requirements for each individual cup category. Even you asked for this change: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/c029i/1#pi0as
The time requirements set were not "overboard". They were set to be within the same margin that the 32/Nitro/Retro categories were, which is about 4%.
Don't think I wasn't uneasy rejecting these runs with removed videos. It was a tough decision, which is why I listed all 109 rejected runs in the spreadsheet. I wanted to be able to reinstate any runs easily if video resurfaced, or another compelling reason arose.
There were 2 reasons I decided to reject runs verified runs with deleted videos:
- The IGT transition will require a team to view every videoed run. We can estimate IGT without video, but there is a margin of error, especially when it comes to 32 track runs. I feel that every run within the video requirement should have a 100% accurate IGT, and that's not possible without a video.
- Many stories have come up recently about privately verified high score runs being fake (obviously Todd Rogers). Public and lasting proof of a run is important as it allows for anyone at any time to independently verify a run (such as I did for all the individual cup runs). When I see a run was verified by X moderator, I don't know what standards they held the run to, if the video ever existed, or if it was cheated and the moderator didn't catch it. Also, I do feel it's the responsibility of a runner to maintain the availability of their run's video. If they don't care to have their video deleted from YouTube, they probably don't care if the run is removed from the leaderboard. tl;dr no vid, no did
If my data is up-to-date, the categories where videoless WR is possible currently are: Retro Skips/Strategic Flower Skips/No Items Star No Skips/Balanced Special Skips/No Items Leaf Skips/Strategic
These categories are pretty undeveloped and should be a moderately easy WR snag for the right player.
New requirements posted here: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/s2755/1#zrnpj
Locking thread.
The previous time requirements (found here) lacked specific time requirements for the individual cup categories and the 100% category.
As a note, make sure you do not submit a Twitch past broadcast as video proof. They only last 14 days and may result in your run being removed from the leaderboard in the future. Twitch highlights are even known to be unreliable. I recommend you export or upload your run to YouTube and submit that as your video proof.

About
These new requirements were discussed here. The 32/Retro/Nitro category requirements were not changed to reduce the number of runs removed. The new requirements were placed within 4% of WR on average, which is similar to the requirements for 32/Retro/Nitro.
Existing videoless runs with times faster than the time requirements will be rejected. No runs will be grandfathered in. A list of the deleted runs can be found in this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OPyhCVOJbQReUIkoTxMgs3Oqg_L6iZmKMK4upmyUAL8/edit#gid=860669351 109 runs were rejected in total.
It is still possible to get videoless WR in some categories, but only because the category's WR is undeveloped. The video requirements can be changed to be stricter in the future if necessary.
Due to lack of feedback, I'm just going to implement my time requirement idea starting tomorrow. If people feel that it's not enough, we can consider make the requirements stricter.
This requirement change only affects 100% runs an the individual cup runs, removing about 60 runs from the leaderboard. Some of the time requirements are actually relaxed from previous, and they average about to be within 4% of WR.

Go to "Cup Categories Stats". There's a column for the median difference between Wii and Wii U. Maxaura's Mushroom No Skips/No Items WR would likely be a 8:01-8:02 if done on Wii.
The runs with fast load times are not used for the median. They have been moved to the "Deleted Runs" tab.
There are multiple ways to answer your question in this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ca6Hl5ra8b8rX3KSsgQKXDgenjlEpOOGvHBq6z1bjec/edit?usp=sharing
You can either look at the median load time difference, or just directly compare your IGTs.
Two proposed time requirement sets have been made and put in the spreadsheet in new tabs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OPyhCVOJbQReUIkoTxMgs3Oqg_L6iZmKMK4upmyUAL8/edit?usp=sharing
Let us know what you think!
@Legoman Thanks for being honest. I really appreciate it.
On the topic of USB/SD loading being allowed in IGT: I'd imagine so. There may be some backlash about Gecko codes and such, but I doubt it would be enough to prevent it.
So I was working out some theoretical cutoff times in the 'Idea 1' tab of the spreadsheet I linked above.
There's a big problem with the Star Cup Skips/No Items category in particular. https://www.speedrun.com/mkw#Star_Cup Just looking at it you can see that the top 8 runs have no video. If we were to set the video cutoff at 9:30 for that category, that would invalidate 7 runs.
I'm still conflicted what to do with these runs. Some of them are done by proven players, but there is always a potential for fakes. If we remove the top 7, then WR is still videoless. Do we then have to invalidate that one to be left with the former last place run as WR?
I made a spreadsheet (as I always do) documenting which categories have potential for videoless WRs, as well as showing the percentage gap the current time minimum is from WR.
