Thank you! I know it could be way different, but I was thinking 'set seed' just to get used to the plan in the nether. Like bartering for the pearls and getting the rods. Getting that plan smooth.
I started speedrunning just over a week ago. To be honest, it's less 'speed running' and more 'playing minecraft with a goal'. But I've been practicing Any% RSG and I'm almost happy with my first overworld section. I get to the nether relatively quickly (before first night), but the nether is almost always bad. How do I now get to practice the nether parts. Will it help to practice on a set seed? And then beyond that, The End?
There is one gold block at the portal, but it's kinda pointless. The fortress is in a basalt delta. The village where the fortress is has a cleric (or at least a brewing stand), so I guess the best way would be to trade for it.
I found a pretty good seed last night - which I totally screwed up 'cos I'm a n00b. I don't think it's a 8min seed, but still good.
You spawn near a desert village with a blacksmith. Next to the village is a temple. There's another temple nearby, but it's a little out of the way if you're gonna run it. Close to this village is a ruined portal, but it's useless 'cos it's got crying obsidian in it, but there are 2 lava pools not far from it on your way to another village. If you make the portal at these pools, you spawn inside a fortress next to 2 blaze spawners. If you continue a little from this acacia village you'll find another one. The stronghold is under this one.
I'm very new to speedrunning to really know if it has potential, but if I didn't screw it up, I could've had a pretty decent time.
Edit: forgot the seed: -1295005363 End Portal is at around 970,40,1035
I just use the standard layout (I have pick-block on right-stick click, which I don't think is standard) and I play with somewhat of a claw to allow me to run-jump and look around at the same time. But I'm new to speed running.
