@Mew: Have you tried to block her call with a wanted level before starting a mission?

Josh's and Cyber's dupes were almost identical, both in actions and timing, so it could also be caused by pure luck. It feels like random dupes should have happened more often if they were caused by condition and not perfect timing. Or maybe the G4L mission is more susceptible to dupes than others.

I came across another glitch while trying to learn how to control the girlfriend progress bar. I cannot remember seeing this before.

Take Denise on a date and go to the basketball court next to Sweet's house. Start the basketball minigame and stand next to the girl, then when you start to throw the ball press tab to kiss her. The game will bug out and the ball should freeze in mid-air. After this the date will sometimes end and sometimes not (don't know why), and you'll be stuck with the fixed camera from the minigame.

If the date ends, play a previously recorded replay to regain control of CJ and use the minimap to navigate inside his house to get the third person camera back. If the date doesn't end, kiss the girl once more to regain the third person camera. Also the basketball will be fixed at CJ's feet.

You should now be able to play the game again, although you can't start R3 missions or change weapons. I assume the basketball minigame is still seen as active. The game will also be in a semi-ghostworld state with very few peds and cars. Getting busted or wasted will not end the glitch. Starting another basketball game and quitting it normally will end it, also completing another date will end it.

The glitch will also continue after triggering some story missions, but other missions will end it instantly. I have only tried 3 or 4 missions though, but the only mission it had an obvious effect was during house party which wouldn't progress after killing the first group of ballas.

/edit: Doing missions doesn't seem to end the glitch as I first thought, but it gives you control of your weapons again. The glitch will prevent phonecalls, it also prevented the long doberman cutscene from triggering, so it will halt some game progress until you cancel the glitch. While the glitch is active CJ's default clothes texture will for some hilarious reason be placed on top of whatever he is currently wearing during cutscenes. It looks like kissing the girl once while holding the ball might prevent the date from ending when you kiss her while throwing. I also failed to regain control when I played a replay from the same area as I did the glitch, so the replay might have to be made some distance away.

/edit2: It looks like the same glitch can be done without a date. Play back a replay after throwing the basketball and before picking it up again to glitch out of the minigame. Then enter a house to regain the camera.

/edit3: A similar glitch can be done when playing pool in the bar close to grove street. Press F3 and Enter to watch a replay and start a game of pool simultaneously. The other pool player will leave and you can't start any missions, sidemissions or minigames after that. The only way I could end it was to die (didn't try to get busted).

I assume this is already known, but I'll post it anyway since I haven't seen this info on any game wikis:

It's possible to swap first date and bleed out without roman ending up in the hospital. Just block the bleed out call with a wanted level or a 911 call on the way to first date. Waiting for roman's bleed out call after first date will probably make it slower than the current route though.

I also tried this once in clean getaway, block vlad's call and go straight to the garage, but I still had to wash or paint the car to open the garage. I can't think of any other missions where your objective is changed by a phonecall halfway through, so first date/bleed out might be the only mission where it's possible.

Hi all, finally got around to signing up here. This is just a follow-up to some of my posts over at the sda forums.

• I have figured out how to swim during the doberman cutscene, but setting it up probably cost as much as the time you actually spend swimming. The key to breaking out of the cutscene is a camera and the hospital information marker, and the glen park territory ends right next to the hospital. Do the last wave behind the hospital, and after killing the last guy you have a couple of seconds to slide with the camera and head towards the marker. This will prevent the cutscene from triggering until after you hit the marker. This will break you free from the cutscene about halfway in, and you can run towards the water. The cutscene will continue playing after the next scene change, but you are still allowed to move/swim around but with a fixed camera angle. You can't see CJ in the pond (view distance?) but you can see the water splashing around him.

I have been meaning to experiment more with this glitch and try some other approaches (if it's possible to kill the last guy before the cutscene ends, get in a car and drive away, etc.), but haven't had the time. I'll post it here instead so other people can try if it has any uses or if it's useless (as usual).

• I have also looked into duping missions with the girlfriend progress bar, which is what I suspect happened in Josh's mission dupe, although there could be other factors involved as well. He also did two waves of territories and canceled it with vigilante right before triggereing the mission.

But I suspect that this glitch can only be done with the random progress bar that occurs when you haven't talked to your gf for n amount of days. This progress bar have in the past broken me free while gambling in a casino (blackjack/roulette), and allowed me to move around during the activity with a fixed camera angle.

The progress bar that happens right after you abuse a gf while on a date probably can't be used. You are prevented from starting side missions until it shows, and triggering a normal mission will instantly cancel the date afaik.

• I also learned how I once managed to jack the car of the DA in 555 without failing. It was actually the "ghost" from the cutscene that I jacked, and not the actual "missiion" DA.
