I tried an alternative I found called GammaRec (https://github.com/3snowp7im/GammaRec), it doesn't let me select the input device.
No, this will not happened, the SNES controller are desinged in a such a way that makes it so the bump shave off natrually, and instead of banning tens of players becuase their controllers had that problem, they decided to just let everyone shave off the bump, so they will have the same advantage.
The NES controllers don't have that problem and shaving off the bump just makes no sense in this context.
You should probably move onto an emulator as fast as possible, gane & watch is not an accepted platform as far as I know, and on an emulator you have save states, which are good for practice.

I bought a GV-USB2 a couple of months ago, and it was wotking fine when I was recording my NES, but everytime I tried to use my Wii on it, it would not work for some reason, it would have shown me a distorted still frame, here is a screenshot for refrence:

Also, I don't have a PB, so I will just say, I nethier have done FPG, 1-2 Pipe Clip or 337 BBG. I have only done fastest (without fpg) 8-1, and even then, only once.
