Nice job! Glad this leader board is getting some runs
Hello, if you weren't already aware, a mod that swaps the gamepad and TV screens has existed for quite some time now. I think it was made to enable Splatoon to be played with just the gamepad. But since it's open-source, I went ahead and slightly modified the source code to make it so the gamepad screen is put onto the TV but the TV screen is not put onto the gamepad (the audio still swaps, however). This means if you have an HDMI capture card you can effectively record the gamepad screen while still playing on the gamepad.

Using this mod during games like Metroid Blast enables you to record the Gunship's perspective, which is nice. Using the mod during Fruit Cart is basically cheating, though. As such, for speedruns submitted here, swapping screens is only allowed for team games and is not allowed during solo games. It is ok if the mod is active while playing solo games, but you may not swap the screens.
Getting the one-cycle is tough. I noticed you left one blue pig alive during the miniboss before the door. If you can't one-cycle, you can lunge at the blue pig to sneak in a hit or two behind the miniboss' shield so that you don't have to wait an entire cycle.
After watching this, I wonder if 1p2c strats could be viable on a stage like this. Blue Pikmin seems to match or beat Olimar in a lot of the sections, and there isn't a lot of traveling around in this stage, so little-to-no time would be lost to having to control two players at once. Maybe some risk of losing all your hearts in a few sections, though.
Nice job! There's a funny way to save time in one of the later rooms. You can just walk straight past the boxes next to the big hole instead of breaking them at 2:31. You can use the same trick for the next set of boxes to make the enemies spawn sooner. I still like to break the last set to get some extra nectar, though.
One of my favorite stages, despite the boss being a pain. Are you finding the boss to be faster with knuckle? I prefer to use vine.
Classic Olimar moment at 2:07 in the video. That hesitation gets me every time.
Nice job! This level is challenging, but one of my favorites because of how much variety there is in it.
I think this would be a good category to add. If you do a run, send the video to me in a PM and I'll add a category for it. Rules will be the same as the Wiimote categories aside from the fact that no remotes were used.
Also, you might want to consider joining the Nintendo Land Discord if you're interested in running the game. The people there are friendly and will answer any questions you have. I'll add an invite link to the Fruit Cart leaderboards because it looks like it's not there at the moment.
For the team minigames, all three of these leaderboards have co-op categories.

For the full Nintendo Land any%, no one has done a run yet which is why there's no category for it. But if you do a run, just message me and I'll create a category for it. Discord is the best place to communicate about this, but you can also just pm me on this website if you'd rather. I've left an invite to the discord below.
Oops, didn't see this for a while. It's a little confusing to set up, but it's split up using a combination of Categories and Variables.
So for main game, it is split into 4 Categories: Main Levels, Time Attack, All Levels, and Extra Levels. These are set under the "Full-Game Categories" menu in the "Categories" tab after clicking "Edit Game."
The full-game categories are further split using variables. Go to the variables tab and click "New Variable." From there you can add values (ie Sword, Bow, Co-op) as well as choose what categories it applies to.
Be careful when reorganizing boards. Adding, deleting, and changing things haphazardly can cause runs to become hidden, or worse, deleted. I would suggest to add a category/variable and transfer existing runs to the new category/variable before deleting the old ones to not put any runs at risk.
Although I can see a skull was used, I don't yet see a reason to make a distinction between co-op runs that use skulls and co-op runs that don't.
^ Yes, this exactly. There are two reasons they are in a separate category. The first is that it is a pain to set up the skulls because you have to intentionally die in a specific spot. Setting up 3 takes a while and would make grinding IL times overly tedious. The second is that, because skull placement matters, people who do want to grind it out would need to approach runs differently than people who don't (different routes and strategies are opened up when skulls are allowed).
Speedruncom now allows comments? Guess things have changed while I have been busy.
Anyways, glad that someone finally bothered to record optimal Octo Dance strats for the IL.
Before now, the quest mode levels were an IL on the Nintendo Land leaderboards. Now they are here. Additionally, each quest mode level is its own IL. The process of transferring all the runs from the NL boards to this board will take a little while.
