Saarland, Germanysub 4 is very doable, its just hard clutching out good bonus levels after playing an insanely fast 12 levels time, but we have all the strats for it and Maximum is currently attempting to get a sub 4
The strategy Miniland uses in his 2:35 is called "SMB11". Here's the offset string: 122:D|208:d|208:w,209:W|246:w
if you just want china record, do no hard tricks (1-1 380 framerule, 4-2 375 3-bump rule, good judges 8-1, and all pipe jumps), BBG in 8-2 and 1 frame walljump in 8-4, this can get you a time of around 4:57.5 - 4:57.7 depending on your 8-4 speed, probably a .6 however. If you want a 4:56 (if that's what "sub 4:57" means in the title), you need to add 2 tricks onto that and a decent 8-4, people commonly add 1-1 + 4-1 FPG, but for example you could also do 1-1 FPG + 4-2 Blazit, or 4-1 FPG + 4-2 Blazit.
with no hard tricks you can get 4:58.5/.6 with 2 frame, 1 frame walljump will give you a low 4:58 (like 4:58.2 or .3)
Assuming your best 8-2 Full Level is simply just Blant, your SOB is 4:56.112. If it has BBG, it's 4:55.413.
if you remember that 4-3 exists, then walkathon warpless might not be the best idea to say the least
you need to do 8-b first room then do ffa in walljump room you know get 8-d walljump then tas accel at start of turnaround room then to do dfa you do rla and perfect turnaround you know get frame 63, then play perfect water (easiest part by far) and then do ffa in last room and get 8+c +2 aka tas tie

The mods aren't accepting any new category ideas btw. However, all stars 8-4 il is a very good idea imo, but yeah category ideas won't be accepted.
The TAS saves 4 Frames over this, these are the frames: 1 in First Room from performing TAS accel 1 in Underground from doing UFA 2 in last room from doing perfect accel + FFA
That is not allowed for speedruns. Since you have an NTSC NES, you can try getting an NTSC version of SMB1, the ntsc version is definitely more enjoyable to speedrun than the PAL version.
