uh, this game had runs and suddenly the leaderboards are gone. The stats even say there's runs. /Stick_Ranger
Sure do, here's the RTS Speedrunning Discord: https://discord.gg/dy3GRjw
I would have responded if I had any experience with the first game. I only know Warcraft II onward. I'm not a mod for any of the games though.
For popular games, it's not unheard of to add a game two weeks before release.
Found an excuse to bump. Now that Twitch supports uploading, it could splice [small]small[/small][/small] out the segments from the finished video file with help from ffmpeg to upload to either Twitch or YouTube. Highlighting would still be preferred if possible because it'd be a whole lot faster than waiting on the upload.
I'd ask the game's forum: https://www.speedrun.com/VS_Super_Mario_Bros/forum
I think there should be something that encourages users to 'explore' the games on the site to let them see what they may be interested in following. There's plenty of games users would recall from memory from seeing the name or cover art. All Games doesn't do a very good job of this in my opinion; a different tab with its own system would work better (maybe called Explore). I'm still conceptualizing how it would work and I'll come back to it when I have some solid ideas.
Source engine games? I'd get the Orange Box or Valve Complete pack for a large number of games.
For a list, just check Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_%28game_engine%29
Edit Theme > 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Upload an image for them, preferably 16x16.
Sorry I didn't catch this thread the first time round. I personally use VideoReDo to cut up video pieces. I use it to compile a segmented video of my best segments.
I'm sure it'd be fine. I originally thought the final boss was randomized each time.
To let series moderators customize how the games appear on the series page, have the list of games underneath the moderators that's similar to the Followed games settings for users -- along with a checkbox next to each game to show/hide them. For the database, there can be a integer for SeriesPosition and boolean for Visible. If nullable boolean is available, null can be used for an 'auto' option to automatically set visibility if it has a derivative gametype.
Really, nullable boolean can be used in other areas of the site as 'auto': User settings • Show misc runs by default on your profile -- Shows if there aren't any non-misc runs or the ratio of misc to non-misc runs is really high. • Appear on Streams page while streaming -- The stream page can use an overhaul, but set this to only appear if the user has a run in literally anything. Game settings • Default view -- Prefers full-game but shows level instead if there's only ILs or the IL-to-FG player ratio is really high. (If the mods dislike it, they can check to show FG or IL.)
By site standards, mods are considered active enough if they log in at least once a week (and verify/reject runs if there are any). Only once it hits 3 weeks and no responses may there be a replacement. There are people who have jobs and can't be on point with approving runs all the time. If you're highly active in the game and the moderator isn't very active, try messaging them for a moderator position.
@PresJPolk I strongly disagree. Most people aren't going to bother to check that option, especially if they don't use the streams page themselves. If it's opt-in, that page will always be missing a LOT of actual speedruns. I'd rather see false positives than miss out on a speedrun I want to watch. Right now you only see streams of people with a PB unless you turn that off, but that's not really worth complaining about.
@Drakodan I do think some SRL-like requirements by default would help a lot. Maybe it'll be something included when it gets overhauled.
