One option would be to run splits on a separate device. I personally use an app on my iPhone for splits while running the game on PC. Downside is you can’t have the splits on the recording, if that’s something you want.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker comes to mind. It has some interesting routing where the two players need to go after different gems, which allow you to reach later levels faster.
