Obviously, thanks for all you do with this site...but is there going to be messaging or not? It's been saying coming soon since I joined
Hi!
First off before I go asking for stuff I want to say ill be a moderator if you'd like another one.
That said the 100k points category has always bugged me. Its just...completely arbitrary.
I suggest we replace the category with what I believe is in the Spirit of that category - Hi Score. If you look at the in-game hi score it is set at 500k. Why not have that as the points category - "Hi Score" aka > 500K points. Its also up to you but i'd just move the 100k points category to misc runs so you dont wipe everyones times.
Please consider this and let me know.
Thanks again!
I'm assuming this only applies to the actial cinematic cutscenes? I can skip non-cut scene scenes like meetings in castles etc, right? Only cant skip cinemas?
I put up a 1930 last week and its been like 9 days since I put it in for review. Not complaining and I know a 72nd time or whatever is no rush but I saw only 2 mods and thought id offer. I mod like 10 other games and know land fairly well.
Would anyone be opposed to that?
So for those who know about the wall market skip I wanted to put this out into the universe. Theres another big skip (bigger than wall market skip) that may be possible. Ive only put an hour or so into testing with no results, but maybe someone with TAS skills or more time could make the breakthrough.
When you first enter junon during the march segment, in the screen between the two sides of junon where there is access to the underwater reactor there is a pesky guard in front of the elevator down to the reactor.
Now there arent as many rough edges on the movement field like there is in the sector 7 skip's screen so you can't mess with your subpixel position easily (which is what I'm assuming happens when you grind the corners in the tsunaskip) but if you can imagine, if this skip is found to be possible you'd be cutting out about HALF of the game.
Now I want to stress that this is just a theory. I dont even know if the game has the underwater reactor area loaded so early in the game. And you being in the shinra outfit might effect the game too. But just think, if this skip is a thing you can skip from junon to near the end of the huge materia quest...and you'd keep aeris alive.
Any TASers or people familliar with ff7 and with more time than me wanna give it a shot? I'm here to bounce ideas off of etc I just dont think I have the strats to figure it out myself.
Hey all, anyone have a problem with a 100% leaderboard? I love this game and always wanted WR but couldnt get it. That being said I know some stuff no one else knows pertaining to secret chests/items that id love to show off someday. I know there are no optional bosses etc but id like to do something like this:
Beat the game Open all chests Obtain 1 of every item Defeat all optional bosses (like the extra vile tribe in burg and I think talon mines) Gain all available magic for all characters (including Luna)
I also dont think 1 of every item will fit in the inventory so we may want go drop that one as a community but if anyone else has any ideas to add lmk
Hey I was thinking about what a 100% run would look like. Before I waste my time and screw it up please give me some input and let me know if I missed anything.
From a new game (new game + 100% seems weird)
All 10 chapters
All sidequests (including stuff like seeing Luna's dress)
All cactuar statues
All scraps of mystery
All meal preps
All 13 royal arms (even though sword of the tall seems bugged and I cant find a way to trigger it yet)
All upgrades unlocked (idk what this game calls it; sphere grid stuff)
All weapons/accesories/items (1 of each)
Thats all I can think of. If theres anything else let me know. Also can anyone think of any other sidequests like the wedding dress one that dont trigger from a questgiver? Thanks
We can keep it as level by level but the time at the end should really be what we advertise as the top category IMO
What is hd and what is sd console? Is wii sd? Can I just get a quick list. Thanks!
For Rise of the Dragon there is a Just 1 any% category for all versions. The difference between the sega cd and ms dos versions make the sega CD version take almost exactly twice as long to complete. Ive asked for the boards to be separated probably a year back (twice) with no response. Ive reached out to the sole mod on twitch as well with no response. Ive posted to the games forum with no response. I forgot about it for a long while even though it was bugging me but when a third runner joined the boards a few weeks ago I reached out to the mod one last time to attempt to split the boards but they just dont respond. Can someone please help? Ive gone through all normal procedure and no progress has ever been made. Id appreciate it. Thanks.
Hello I asked for the Sega CD category to be separated a while back and never got a response. The Sega and dos versions are different in how you can progress the game. Dos is way faster because of this.
Now that there's a second Sega CD run I think it's time to split the boards please.
In speedruns I see people set up a few stationary traps - start the battle - break them down then the boss fight starts. I can never get the skip to work and have to watch the enemies climb the whole screen What am I doing wrong? I'd appreciate the help- thanks!
Hope you wouldn't mind adding this sub-category. I think it could potentially get a decent runner base.
Im sorry if theres a way to find this or a knowledge base on here somewhere, but I just wanted some info on what the most ideal emulator would be to run a psx game. If it matters im running Chrono Trigger (yes I own it) and plan on it being a looong run so I just want to make sure I'm running it on a satisfactory emulator. I kinda forget which ps1 emu Ive used most often, but figured someone here could let me know my best option. thanks!

I was excited to play through this FF7 so I was researching the only run on the site. Unfortunately it's not really a run.

I haven't gone through the whole thing, but the most obvious clear splice I can point out right now is at 1:24:35; music cuts, they reappear 2-3 tiles away from where they were and they are MANY levels higher and have a LOT more items than they had a few seconds prior. If you look at the youtube comments someone asked the player directly about said splice and they admit they are using cheats/hacks. (They also encourage the use in Spanish in another comment).
I don't mind if people want to run games this way, but this is not a valid speedrun that should be on here LET ALONE listed as a world record.
This is listed as an Any% run described as glitched. It's not a glitched run though - it's a playthrough that uses a hacked version of the game (and almost certainly uses either save states or straight-up spliced video). I believe that's clear if you look at the video and the player's comments.
Sorry to be so intense, but this really irked me. And if I'm proven wrong I'll certainly accept it.
Thanks for your time! I'll be interested to see the ruling!
PS: Just to clarify, I've played through the version mentioned in the rules up to the point of the splice as well and I tried everything like the player does in the scene right before the 'glitch' and can't reproduce it.
I'm planning a SS playthrough next month and noticed that PSX isnt even listed. I did a SS playthrough of the PSX FF6 a while ago; just trying to have one out there since the version exists.
Is it just more people play normal mode? Or is normal mode actually faster and why? Im seriously considering a run, im probably around an 80% playthrough now of 100 and may just run any% after.
