According to livesplit 174 attempts total thus far on Atlantis. I reset at the second group of boosts if my time is no good based on livesplit and music cues. My other attempt was 2:56.71 and that felt like a perfect run.

And yeah I used to play it with my dad too sometimes (though clearly not as much as you :p) and had the same thought.
