Hello! I'm glad to see interest about Mahjong! As you said, there is some rule variation depending of the country. For this game, we play the riichi (Japanese) version. I don't consider myself as a expert or experienced player, I am more like at an intermediate level. But, the best advice I could give is to start slowly but surely. Like understanding the tiles, the hand setup to get a winning hand with suit and triplet. Some call like riichi, pon, chii, kan, etc. And learning some Yaku along the way.

It doesn't matter for me, I can wait 16 seconds each time.
But for some top runners, it could be really annoying to reset and wait 16 sec because of slow or miss climbing pole. If the romhack doesn't have any bugs, glitches or any anomalies of some sort, I guess why not.

For sure! You can submit your run on the Namcot version since the bonus is not mandatory to complete compared to the Taxan version (just edited the categories). This is why there is 2 seperates boards!

I would like to announce there will be a tournament coming soon for this game somewhere in March. Most of the participants never play this game before and since it is really hard especially on the extra stages, I would like to ask if you can add a new category where the run ends on bad ending warpless?
That is the category the participants will play and for accessibility, it would encourage new runners to play this game.

I'm actually learning the 100% category since a few runner did this. I was watching Dragondarch's run and I noticed that he didn't go for transceiver glitch and instead go for the glasses. Is there a specific reason for this or the route on his run is outdated?
I think it would be a good idea to specify in the rule which emulator and version are allowed to avoid confusion with some new runners. I definitely agree that Mesen and Retroarch should not be used for speedrunning.
