I mentioned this category to puddings the other day, and I wondered if it might be of interest to be added to the boards. As of today, I have now completed a run of this category with no retries, which can be seen here:
I've been learning this game offline in the past couple weeks, and I was going through Mossrock 2 today when I encountered a crash and I was wondering if this was something that's been experienced before. Rather embarassingly, it came when I missed my hammer on the yellow shy guy and got into a fight, and when I fled from the fight the ptooie ran right into me and the game crashed. If that's the cause of the crash then it's probably avoidable, but I'm curious if this has been experienced before and if it's a random thing or not.
As of August 23rd 2020, moderators will be automatically rejecting runs that submit only real time, or if the in game time is obviously incorrect based on your run. Please take the time yourself to correctly find what your IGT is.
Hi there, I just have a quick and hopefully simple question. I'm very interested in trying out this speedrun, and I've watched the recent developments go wild. However, I don't have a NES that I can play this on. I bought the game on Wii VC but I noticed that NES is the only available console option (and I'd rather not play on emulator). If I did runs on the Wii, which is the same game as on the NES, would my runs be accepted?
I have Free Play RTA accepted into ESA Winter 2019, a speedrunning marathon that will be happening in February. My run is on Tuesday the 19th and it would be nice if someone who can give insightful comments about the run would be able to commentate for the restreams. The languages that they definitely will be restreaming are French and German, but possibly Russian and Spanish as well.
That being said, I don't have anyone planned for my couch commentary so if you are actually going to the event, it would be nice to have someone commentating beside me too.
I am considering learning this game, but I was thinking about how there's no category in between Any% and 100% which is unusual for modern 2D Mario games. This is a very large game too. Usually, the most popular middle category would be cannonless, but there are no cannons in this game. So I thought about no alternate worlds, but nah. Any% only goes to World C as it is. So perhaps No Secret Exits would be the best middle category here as it forces playing more levels aside from those side worlds as well.
I'd also like to suggest a separate 1.2.0 board while I'm at it, but I understand if this doesn't get put up.
I've added a slight timing change to many of the categories, since many new players were making mistakes with timing rules. @drgrumble I would like you to help with retiming if possible, but please let me know if you can't.
For the Any% runners out there, I realized that there's a strat that you can do to speed up the "chase sections" in the Death Star flying levels. In these sections, if you get shot, you'll get a small forward boost, and it's fine to do this as much as possible because you don't even get set back from dying in these sections. I hope this will at least be slightly useful.
Hello there! I'm Laser, and I've previously hosted 2 flash games speedrunning marathons, just for fun. This time, SRC has been nice enough to include the marathon! You can submit here. https://www.speedrun.com/fm3

Hello there! I'm Laser, and previously I have hosted 2 marathons dedicated purely to flash games. This time it would be cool to have a wider variety of games on show, and I would really love for this game to be shown as it is an absolute classic. I'm aware that the speedrunning community for it may be inactive, but I wanted to put this out there anyway. Also, speedrun.com has been nice enough to include our marathon this time around, and submitting is through this site. You can find the marathon at speedrun.com/fm3

You may know that this game used to be part of the site Poueptu-games.com where people posted their own levels and rated them. However, Pouetpu is a bit... Unstable. We're not even sure if he's aware that his site expires in 23 days. So since April 2016, there is a much better site at levelpalace.com where you can share and rate all of the amazing creations made by the brilliant users on the site. You can use Super Mario Flash 1, 2 and even 3 (yes, 3 exists) and any of the recolor "hacks" that people have made of them. So we'd love for you to come along.
I can organize the leaderboards for you, add rules, and change up the category options a bit, adding more and better options. At the moment the categories might not be so appealing to new runners.
I was playing a lot the past week and got really addicted to slide grinding. I had no idea of the setup you used, but then I saw some other slides and had not seen a 14. I thought it may be a good idea to show you very consistent way to get 14s, for those who are bothered enough:
