I have some runs I would like to submit, if possible. Several members of the Shiren community have done speed runs on the Nintendo DS, myself included.

Just to clarify. Time Attack is a special main menu version of Table Mountain. It's accessed from the main menu after you've beaten the main story. You can either go in with 1 item or with none. Using a workaround, you can bring in a Jar (5) with 5 items in it. Usually weapons, armor, an armband, and whatever else.

The run assumes you've cumpleted all side quests, have all allies and the melding jar unlocked as it would take too long to start a fresh save for every run.

The game has this incredibly stupid penalty where the player is "fined" 10 minutes on their final time if they didn't collect 10,000 Gitan (currency). We ignored that as we felt our runs should reflect our actual playtime and skill and not some arbitrary BS the devs decided to add to it.

Yggy and I did runs on the Nintendo DS/3DS platforms back in September 2019 and posted them to the wiki due to the lack of support /splitting of versions on this site. I have the dates of my runs and times saved. We also have pictures saved of our runs. But I'd have to check the archived Shiren community discord to find Yggy's run dates.

"Gaze07" most recent run was shared on January 8, 2022. The rest were from September 2019. I could look into Yggy's best time, if it's important.

Due to how expensive capture cards are, we were lax on proof. The runs on average take 7 minutes to 15 minutes. Depending on if you remember the "random floor" patterns, luck, etc. So there's little reason to cheat as it's easy enough to just go for another run asap.

The level "NASZRAN TOWN" has a hidden health pack that can be obtained on any difficulty. The kind that adds a + and can be used any time. It works on Xbox and the Xbox 360 digital download.

18:57 for proof of Special Ops gameplay.

I don't have a video because I played on the NDS which is much harder to record. I've tried playing on an emulator and every time I try to record it and even during normal gameplay, it lags and stutters and makes the game(s) unplayable.

The rules linked only apply to the SFC release of the game. The NDS port has many changes that completely change how the game is played.

I played the Time Attack mode from the main menu which allows the player to carry in one item. I chose to carry in a Jar of Holding [5] with the most OP gear possible. Kabra Reborn (every seal) Windshield (every seal) Wooden Arrows (80 - 90 stack, un-used) Armband of Sight Blank Scroll: Removal (for the final boss)

There should probably be 3 categories for Table Mountain: Story, Time Attack (no items), Time Attack (any items).

Time Attack mode plays differently than the story and I previously posted on the forums about some of the problems with the categories as they are.

My in-game time displays as 20:03 because a stupid time attack rule where you have to collect 10,000 Gitan (currency) or be penalized 10 minutes. Though going out of my way to collect 10,000 Gitan seriously slows down the run and defeats the purpose of playing fast. The penalty is garbage and I choose to log my actual time. Run 1: Carried in 9,999 Gitan https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/545194323172392980/617622737417928704/IMG_20190901_013204275.jpg

Run 2: Didn't carry in Gitan. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/545194323172392980/617627080221261836/IMG_20190901_014922129.jpg

The dungeon names listed are almost all wrong as well.

  • Table Mountain (Main-story) Table Mountain (with items) Table Mountain (without items) *Tainted Path (Continuation of the main story dungeon, missing)
  • Ceremonial Cave (NDS exclusive, missing)
  • Ravine of the Dead (NDS exclusive, missing)
  • Kitchen God (Food-gimmick dungeon, plays differently than the SFC. Allows pre-leveling.)
  • Scroll Cave (Trap-gimmick dungeon, plays differently than the SFC. Allows pre-leveling.)
  • Fay's Final Puzzle
  • (Main Menu > Time Attack) Table Mountain (with items) Table Mountain (without items)

I would like to request some changes be made to this game. They only seem to take into account Japanese players.

When I try to compare my record (as a test) using LiveSplit, it compares it with the SFC world record. The DS and SFC play very differently. LiveSplit also doesn't have an option to select PAL or NTSC-U regions for the DS.

The dungeon selections don't take into account any of the dungeons added to the NDS port or specify NDS rules. The NDS intro is longer than the SFC by several minutes and making a brand new save every time you die would be insanely time-wasting and un-enjoyable.

The rules in general are pretty vague and only link to a Japanese fan community.

The rules I've been playing with after making a new save on my second NDS cart that work pretty well.

Starting riceball: Optional. Item carry in: None NPC interaction: Minimal - Smiths, shopkeepers and some beneficial dungeon NPCs Rescues: Waste of time Storehouses: None Side ques progression: Not allowed

This gives me a mostly blank slate with the exception of a small cutscene that plays in the first town shop on your first time visiting it.
