@bradenexplosion That's a great question man. Yes it does! Ring Outs refers to both of those things.
Are there any tutorials of the newest route used for Any% unrestricted (specifically the Moon warp during first cycle etc)? I wanted to run the game a bit back, but was ultimately turned off due to the length (yes 20+ minutes is too long for me personally lol). Now that the category is even shorter, I wanna give it a shot. Thanks!
Hello all.
There are some changes about to take place on the leaderboard. I have reached out to all moderators individually as well, but I wanted to outline some of these changes here before moving forward as to not surprise anybody.
-
Emulator and Console runs will be SEPARATED. This decision is the result of research by several runners (including myself) that have confirmed that Emulator provides a unique advantage that applies to any Tournament Belt run. Specifically, the results screen can be dismissed immediately on Emulator, but not console. This effects the Ring-Outs categories more, but separating all of them makes the most sense. I will leave a function to see all runs compared against each other for reference, but the default, will become console/hardware runs. I know that this may anger some runners of the game, but the advantages provided, short length of runs and the growing community make this more integral now than it was before.
-
Inactive moderators will be removed, and new moderators are going to be added. Any current moderators that DO NOT want to removed, please respond to my message or here in this forum post.
-
No-Ring Outs is now the default category for the game. Ring-Outs simply put is very close to being fully optimized (if it isn't already). As such, No Ring-Outs is a better candidate for our default.
-
Some minor rule changes (that are less changes really, more so clarification). Ring-Outs runs may ONLY be won via Ring-Out. Lastly, TKO runs must ONLY have TKO set as the method of elimination, and all other win conditions must be set to OFF. Any TKO runs that do not display the rules screen with with these conditions met, will be rejected. This will not apply to any TKO runs set before this clarification was made, as those runs have already been verified to have only TKO eliminations, but for the sake of simpler retiming, having the rule set clearly dictate that TKO is the only possible way of elimination makes sense.
@bradenexplosion No penalty for elimination. And yes, with TKO runs, the ruleset should be changed to ONLY allow elimination via TKO.
Hello. I started this leaderboard years ago, being the only person on it and expecting it to mostly remain that way or not much bigger. I am very pleased as to how the community has grown into a full fledged scene over the years to completely shatter my expectations.
With that, I have stepped down as a moderator and I am retiring from the game entirely (I may run again eventually). This scene is just big enough to be a bit above my technical skill to moderate properly, and furthermore, my job demands a lot of my time via touring/traveling and I won't be able to have a level of consistency that you all deserve for your hard work and dedication. I wanted to thank everybody for continuing to push the game, coming up with cool new categories to run and just being awesome in general. Looking forward to seeing what you guys and new runners will do over the years.
Yeah. I messaged Bird650 after we talked and he just sorta modded somebody else. Which I am fine with, but it was odd. Lol.
I am in a similar situation. I have a lot experience as a moderator in general, but only a few mini game runs for Mario Party, so I don't really feel qualified to be a moderator for the game.
The same thing happened to me a few months ago. I ended up DMing 1upGirl and Bird650, they then added the new moderator (Airshock22). That's why I am kinda baffled that the mods are inactive, as this is something that seems to be consistently an issue.
Welcome! If you have questions, feel free to ask. I will try to help.

@Megamatt79 I think we need to do a bit more research first to know the differences. Ultimately this community is not very big and I personally don't mind any run placement discrepancies, however there are some to note that definitely give EMU an advantage (albeit minor).
-
Load times between matches are faster, in some cases not even having a fade in or out like on console. This doesn't really equate to much time at all, but it is certainly noticeable when looking at the Title Belt Ring Outs runs.
-
The results screen after each match SEEMS to be able to be cleared faster on EMU as well. Sometimes I can replicate this on console though I'm not sure how I am doing it (or if its something that's like frame perfect on console or something stupid). I wanted others to chime in so we could figure this specific thing out. We can save a lot of time on console by learning how to quick dismiss the results screen. Please help lol.

Console lags more, which can obviously be avoided (I have found that running on Souled Out reduces lag due to the lack of a fog effect). Also try to keep the screen from zooming out because the wrestlers are too far apart. That sort of lag makes the timer run slower for Ring Outs even (pretty sure at least).
I really wish that I got notifications when things were posted in the forum here. I would have dealt with this long ago.
For now, I am going to only add a 1p option (we can add 1p2c later). I have ran the category at marathons where I simply leave one player motionless as well as cannon fodder. Worth mentioning lol.
I agree with this. Consider it done. Also, welcome. This game needed some new runners.
Another question worth asking is the difference between Emu and console. Personally, I see no true reason to separate the two, but the Ring Outs category times show a clear discrepancy between the two. Curious as to the thoughts of others.
Hello everybody. Just yesterday, a new skip was found in the N64 game Chameleon Twist. More or less, using some of the games movement (tongue vaults) we can clip through doors in the stage Kids Land.
As a community, we have known about door clipping for a bit now, but the doors in Kids Land are somewhat different. As such, it took years for us to be able to successfully clip one of the doors. The door in question is the exit door in the room with 5 platforms (one of these platforms will be illuminated for reference).
The CT community is looking into creating consistent setups for the trick and need all the help we can get! This trick could potentially push the game to sub 10 minutes if we can figure it out. Below you will find two links, one that shows off the first successful attempt at clipping through one of the doors in the stage (done by Custom) and another that shows the inputs via TAS and with a different camera position (done by CyanideGunner)
There is a $100 bounty for a consistent setup.
Hey all,
Against all odds, The Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction has been accepted as a bonus incentive for ESA Summer 2021. This will be the games first major marathon appearance (assuming the incentive is met). I'm honored to be doing the run and hope to do us proud.
I will be doing Buttercup 100% on N64 console (not EMU, as ESA has a strict no EMU policy). It will be directly after my Sneak King run. When a schedule is finalized, I will share it to this thread.
Hello,
In the past few months I have started running Doraemon 2 and 3 for the N64. During another runners research into Doraemon 3: Nobita no Machi SOS! the runner BDLCrusher came across this article detailing a debug menu in Doraemon 3 that allows for access to an unused map and a variety of other features.
https://tcrf.net/Doraemon_3:_Nobita_no_Machi_SOS!
More curious though is that according to the same website, evidence exists in the code of Doraemon 2 for a debug menu as well. I thought this may be useful to archive here as well for those curious.
https://tcrf.net/Doraemon_2:_Nobita_to_Hikari_no_Shinden
Lastly, I understand that much of the Doraemon community does not speak English. As such, those who do please reach out. I would love to start a dialogue about these two highly unexplored games with other Doraemon runners.
I added one new category. TKO. I decided to run it for fun and it seemed fun enough to include as an Individual Level category.
I am not able to remove the option for TKO from Full Game runs. Any Full Game run submitted using TKO will be rejected or altered to be in either Ring Outs or No Ring Outs. (as you can't win in full game with TKO anyway).
Knock em dead guys.
I would like to request a Max% Category (All crowns, hearts and carrots).
