I am a new speedrunner, and after having invested in the OG DK, I have found myself also trying out this game. Problem is, I use Mesen, which is prohibited by the rules. Any reason why the most accurate emulator isn't allowed (is it not as accurate for this game?)?

I've begun to use the more optimal strat for the Spring Stage (where you jump immediately to the right, ride the elevator onto the platform where the firefox spawns, and climb one of the two parallel ladders), but sometimes I get killed by the firefox, sometimes I get through. Is it just RNG, or is there a way to make my successes more consistent?

Hey, Just wondering if ladder glitch is also possible in other versions of DK, like the arcade, Atari 7800, and Colecovision versions.

Hey, I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m new here, I’ve started speedrunning this game, and I would like to post some of my runs. However, I use Mesen, and I’m not sure if that’s allowed. Additionally, I haven’t been able to set up recording so that both livesplit and the game window is captured, so is it acceptable to just submit the run and a retimed time in the description? Or if it isn’t, is there a way to capture the game window and livesplit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can I time the game in post, or does it have to be live?
