nah, i'm good. on the account that the leaderboard is fine lol
just having video would be good, recorded with a camera for instance. its good to see people have video or atleast try to
one way of doing it that would make it "faster" is have 4 controllers plugged in, leave it for 5 hours in a versus match with 4 players then win the match.
would vs AI be a viable for categories? lol. ive never done it, but it might be something. (will be very meme, but since all this game has is a tutorial mode...not much to work with rofl)
I am going to be running this game more frequently soon. & English is for most games
Keeping the loads is just as vital. Could always make n3ds as a different category or something. Alot of other leaderboards have a setup like that anyway, like sm64 or something have different categories for the console they're playing on; (e.g. n64, VC, & emu. Keeping a timing method that is very obsolete just so other players can compete against other devices is silly. (where is the "you don't know because you don't own the game" even coming from? lol)
Time without loads should never have been a method for timing classic. especially when it's not used for any other smash game for speedruns and if it is, they are usually left blank. (eg the melee leaderboards) timing without loads is just a silly method because videos of it can be silly, you can have an hour long video and have the run only be 5 mins just because they weren't doing anything. IGT when shown like in All Star is a fine exception because it's already kept track of. But in places where it doesn't then it's not worth having.
the leader boards before were abit silly and meme-ish and just seemed to be rushed when put in. things were scattered and didn't blend well with what were the more important categories. (that's why I ran the game for like a day and quit, or didn't even update my new times I got simply because I didn't feel like taking it seriously.
Leader boards never have 100% agreement (i've seen in on multiple occasions) so seeing mixed feelings is understandable. However just leaving simply because of changes is pretty ridiculous & pretty ill-mannered. Understanding that the changes were in order to make the leaderboards better, and wasn't a thing he did for himself is important. Plus more or less people who don't run smash games seriously will never see a reason to change them, regardless if they like them or not. People will submit runs simply because the leaderboard is there and that's how it is in their eyes. Especially if the number of runners isn't that big.
Changes happened literally a day ago, by one person, and voices of others. Which means it can still be unfinished & open to hear ideas, but as it currently stands right now, the leaderboards are on the right track to becoming better and already have reached a perfectly fine peak.
i was considering learning this for the 12 hour challenge and i noticed that jp is used, are there any version differences between jp and us? (outside of text speeds i'm assuming)
i would say just watch runs and use them as guides until mine become released. its the best way to learn the run. That's how i learned most of the game and then even make up youre own strats. so just watch runs of characters you either want to learn or just feel the most comfortable with to start & maybe normal 3 stock or Very Easy 5 stock to start.
while we have no prejudice about "meme" categories; me and pikashy do races of them all the time. however they will not be accepted as an official leader board category. feel free to continue racing it. but the categories have stayed the way they are for a really long time so no real changes will happen. Sorry! I would love to join sometime though! FrankerZ
imho, i think the leaderboards are fine.
¤Mini Update¤
I have decided to start with the character Fox. I have some footage up to BTP, with 5 different outcomes. (different strats used, and how smart improv can save a run/race) going to start into the editing phase of this part & maybe even start a rough draft of the script for commentary. Having a lot of fun so far :)
that would make wayyyy to many categories. its fine with SSB64. but for this game that would be ridiculous. All the characters + dlc + all the game modes, and difficulties (eg all star & classic 0.0, 5.0, 9.0 etc)
