California, USAHonestly a mixture of both is probably the best, if you do runs you can see what you’re struggling with then fix it in IL practice.
If you can somehow make up the coin count or you can tell you’re collecting coins and the coin count before the bitrate issue and after the issue makes sense then it might have a chance, also if you collected a story moon and you can make out the date then it might have a chance. But ofc I’m not a mod so don’t take what I say as a final statement.
1.3 digital loads isn’t super important especially if you’re just starting. It only saves around 11-13 seconds to 1.3 physical and you can get very far into the game without digital, so if you have physical you’re fine until you get to around the mid 1:01 place
Wet fms works on 1.3 lol, the only difference between 1.0 and 1.3 is the fight not triggering on 1.3, but all ways of skipping the moon is the same

You can do a speedrun without recording, you just can’t submit it to the leaderboard but if all you want to do is speedrun you can just not record.
For pc: Timing starts when you select your character on the game board and you load into toy box
Timing ends when you break open the ham statue and you complete the last mission
For Xbox or ps3 Timing starts when you select the character on the game board and load into toy box
Timing ends on dealing the last hit of damage to mayor ham

The problem with this is that there isn’t that many glitches/exploits and all the ones there are such as fish clip and moon clip (in 1.3) they don’t save enough time to do a whole leaderboard for, plus things like nut clip and scoot clip, people don’t really do it with higher then around a 1:08 or even 1:07. It just wouldn’t be too different of a run (May not be right times it’s just a guesstimate)
