I recently learnt that there are two "hidden" characters that can be unlocked on reaching 1 billion points in total runs of the game. There is a YouTube video that covers (see below). The YouTuber also provides a link in the description to a data file you can add to your NVDATA folder which will auto-unlock the characters.
I've yet to do this myself, but seems fun!
I've been playing the game for a little bit and in doing some research it seems there is no difference between any of the game "skill" modes (along with a guide confirming as such here: https://www.neoseeker.com/captain-planet/faqs/133027-gen.html ), so I'm wondering if a single category would be better?
Just a thought for simplifying things :)
Update: managed to replicate it a couple of times, but not consistently. Seems after jumping if you select up and then to the direction of the wall, you'll loop back to it, to then do the jump again. I think I'm right with it being knacky, as finding it very difficult to do hah.
So I've watched a couple of the speedruns here now, and one of the key moves in a couple of places seems to be repeated wall jumping against a single wall.
I've tried to mimic some of the movements shown on the controllers/keypad, but am finding it very difficult to achieve. From what I can garner it seems to be that on doing the wall jump you press the direction away from the wall, then back to the wall and jump (jump, right, left, jump etc.) but I can't seem to replicate.
I imagine it's knacky, but any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Great, thanks for letting me know, have switched over to the NTSC version for now :)
Actually I can see the USA/NTSC flag against all the versions on the leaderboard, so that pretty much informs me haha. Thanks anyway :)
Hi - I'm just looking into attempting to speedrun this game, and had loaded up the Europe version of the rom in Fusion (which seemed to run fine).
However based on one of the threads here, the Europe version runs quicker than the USA version? As such I just wanted to check which version I should be using - not that I imagine I'll be setting any records or good scores soon, but would like to be correct from the start.
Thanks!
