-I can't become mod because I don't have a run -Current mod can add as many mods as he wants regardless of if they have a run -If becoming a mod required you to have a run, then why can mods so easily mod other people?
There are currently 6831 games registered on the website. We as staff team cannot obviously know all the games of the site, even less for the people who run it or are willing to. When you are asking US to add you as a mod, we need proof that you know what you are talking about. And we considered that having one or more runs is one of the criteria that needs to be met. Current game super mods can add more mods because it is on a smaller scale : to us a game basically acts as a small community where people know and trust each other. So if mods add some people to the moderators and not others, there is a reason to it : maybe they don't have runs but they have sufficient knowledge.
[personal thought]And yes, people think you're a joke. I don't want to dig out old threads.[/personal thought]
Abusive kids should not moderate here
Aggressive kids shouldn't either.
I don't wish to argue the validity of any speedrun.com mod's or admin's decision to let the Donkey Kong community keep players off this site.
We're just a place to gather people that want to gather. They decided not to join, so we have to respect their decision. If one day they want to migrate there will be a place for them.
If you mean that they would be able to prevent people from posting their times on speedrun.com, leaving the respective speedrun.com page empty, then that seems unfair.
I was more aiming at communities that don't want to have double leaderboards at all. Donkey Kong Country is the best example, they went full shitstorm about it last year. Since then, they have a game page where the only thing written in the rules is "Go to this site for the actual leaderboards"
As for the FEZ example, what would indicate that the particular category is locked?
Disabling buttons, a specific background/text color for the tab of the locked category, stuff like that. Of course we could just reject runs but it doesn't look right to me. Just personal opinion.
Another feature request : Locking leaderboards
I thought about that because of a situation we're about to face for FEZ. A new update of the game is in the making, and many things will change. Therefore, we will most likely reset the leaderboards to have a fresh start, at least for any%, which will be the most affected category. However, for the sake of keeping the runs history, we will keep the old leaderboards. If there could be a way for people not to send new runs for these old categories, that would be cool. It could also become handy for the games that have leaderboards outside of SRCom, but still want a page here. They can lock leaderboards and put a link to their leaderboards in the rules description (Donkey Kong Country, Megaman, Halo...)
Feature request :
On either a series page or a game page, have the possibility to add a link to a Discord server, with the following conditions :
- If the server is set in a game page, only this game will show the Discord server URL (seems logical huh ?)
- If the server is set in a series, all the games of the series will have this link.
- If a series has a server, and a game of this series has another, the game server overrides the series one
It is simply not possible to allow both the current layout and the previous layout at the same time. This is not a simple graphical change, it is a large overhaul of the front-end code of the site to use structures to support varying resolution screens. It is not possible to use the old layout with the new structures. It is also not reasonable to maintain two sets of structures going forward.
It's a known bug that happened after the deployment of the new version of the site. Pac is actively working on fixing most of the fixes that were reported.
You have to respect the communities' choice.
If the current mod hasn't been online for a year, it's ok not to wait for a few weeks before requesting mod rights.
Only people with the admin status can approve games, so there's 4 of them. However, everyone in the admins team has their own tasks and it's kirkq's job to do this one. I can still ask someone else to do it but everyone's pretty busy with the new site release and all the bugs that come along with it.
Kirkq is currently at SGDQ, and he's the one treating these requests. You may have to wait a bit more unless another admin manages this.
It's a known issue that happened after the site update. We'll fix this in a few days, time to gather all the reported issues and fix most of them.
I totally agree with Melis. After clearing my cache everything runs fine, even the search box.
Expired again. You can create a non-expiring invitiation link you know ?
