About to submit a run, but I have questions about the platforms and some different ways of getting certain categories. Any help with this?

I am new to the community and was wondering where I should start. I've been watching alot of runs of BFBB and I wanted to start running this game. I was practicing some of the tricks on a Wii and the Cruise Boosting is near impossible with a GameCube Controller, and the load times were bad. So I got an OG Xbox so I can play more completely. I saw tutorials, but they are 8 months old, and alot of the strats are outdated. Where should I begin learning on running this game?
