@idforthetree two fingers doesn’t make you go twice as fast. The game only allows you to go a certain speed on mobile.
@Elims as long as it doesn't speed up the game like how it works in PC, then yes.
@KilleDragon there are other ways to die such as falling out of the world in space mode and getting eaten if playing as the gingerbread man.
Here's a list of general rules regarding the game and some answers to questions we often get. Please Read.
-
VIDEO REQUIRED - The preferable format of this is YouTube, but it doesn't need to be. Make sure other platforms are allowed to view your video, i.e. your video shouldn't be restricted to only being able to be viewed on YouTube. We won't accept videos that expire. You don't need to time yourself, the mods will fix it. Just estimate if you can't time. I recommend WatchFrameByFrame.com, as it's easy to find exact frames and works for YouTube and Vimeo videos.
-
MAKE SURE YOU SHOW THE WHITE HAND IN YOUR RUN - We get lots of videos that don't show the hand that disappears when you tap the screen. This makes it very difficult to accurately time you. Please don't end the video on the exact frame that you achieve a certain distance, as it can mess with timing software.
-
PAUSING - Pausing is not allowed in runs. If it is "unintentional", we may not reject your video, but you must unpause instantly. It is up to mod discretion. If it is a notable run, multiple mods will have to decide. They will take into account variable such as nature of what caused the pause, whether there was an advantage to be gained, and how far into the run it is.
-
CHEATING - Cheating can either result in a warning, suspension, or ban, depending on the nature and severity of it. It is up to our discretion. The mods have more tools on their side than you might realize. Play fair.
-
PLATFORMS - Make sure you click the appropriate platform both times. When looking at runs, we often see someone select "Mobile," and forget to change the next part, so it says "Mobile/PC" which of course doesn't make sense. If you see a run miscategorized, please tell a mod. Special phone operating systems such as Windows or Fire TV will fall under Android.
-
EXTRA CONTROLS - If you play PC, you can't remap your buttons, or else it goes in the Autoclickers/Scroll Wheel tab. Make sure your runs go in the appropriate places. Mobile players can use controllers. Keyboards, however, are not allowed. If one was used, it would go into Unrestricted.
-
CONTACT - Don't be afraid to message a mod. You can use this site or a mod's Discord (preferred), which should be view-able from their profile. If you would like your or someone else's run retimed because you have checked and found it to be incorrect, please message a mod. If you take issue with a mod, please message a mod of superior rank. -Both on these forums and our discord page, be respectful. Unreasonable behavior can result in either a warning or a ban. For further questions/concerns, contact myself for Speedrun issues, and NoahKaiser for Discord issues. -Redundant forum posts may be deleted. Don't take it personally.
-
CHANGES - Rules are always subject to change. Sometimes more proof is required to uphold accuracy. At one point, only photos were required to verify high scores, and now we require video. "Grandfathered" runs may or may not be removed, depending on the change. As certain runs become faster and faster, we may ask you to submit extra evidence to back up an exceedingly fast run.
- Right now for PC, times under 1.25 seconds for 25 hops and 4 seconds for 50 hops require a singular video of the screen and it needs to show your hands. They also require audio. Times under 4.133 on mobile require game audio.
9: GAME MODES - Only the original mode is allowed unless otherwise stated. Any mode that has "different qualities" isn't allowed, I.E. no polar bear runs, no Pac-man runs, no cannon runs, no At-Home runs, no Japan runs, no PSY runs, and no Cheerleader runs, as these all have gameplay differences that make them different besides their looks. They belong in either their own categories or unrestricted areas.
- MAXOUTS - When someone reaches 9,999, the game no longer keeps track of the score. When this happens, please keep going, as we may implement a way to track scores after this. If you achieve this score or above, mods will put "99x" in the hours place, and then follow it with the time it took to achieve said score. "x" is whatever place they would be on the leaderboard then. Fastest to get said score would have a "9" there.
A tip would be to join the Discord page to stay updated on anything happening in the community. Tournaments are regularly organized there. We may do things like hold community votes over ideas.
Also, please don't just upload to one category. It helps the page look more legit when categories aren't filled with just a few people, and when we all play fairly. Even if your score isn't the best, it's better than someone out there. Good luck Crossing!
@k200 interesting but if it's the same as ten coins there isn't really a point to add it.
@KilleDragon The six deaths is very similar to Death% which is already pretty odd. If we get a category extension page I was thinking of adding a Death% x10 which could fill the place of what you suggest.
I clicked sort games by oldest, and it says Vs Ice Climbers is the oldest on here, released in 1972. Problem is, that game didn't release until 1985. Maybe whoever submitted it put the oldest date on here as a way for their game to get attention? In any case, it needs to be fixed.
There's a Crossy Road competition going on every month. It's bracket where the winner advances. This month, the winner will receive a $15 iTunes card. Go to https://discord.me/crossyroad and type .register to get started. Good luck!
There's a Crossy Road Tournament going on that anyone can join. It's like a March Madness bracket. Winner gets a $15 iTunes giftcard and eternal glory. Join at https://discord.me/crossyroad and type .register. Good luck!
Well being inactive for such a long time is kinda a good reason but maybe he could get it back.
We are hosting Crossy Road tournaments every month. Anyone can join and it is free. To join, just click on the discord link and type .register. You’ve gotta join by April 1st at midnight to participate in this next tournament. As more people join we will be able to split the tourney into multiple ones based on skill level. Currently, it is double elimination. The rules can be found at Crossyoff.com. It’s my understanding that the winner is getting a $15 iTunes card. Everyone should go join!
Yeah it's pretty cool, and we are growing more than a lot of those games, maybe in a year we'll be top 25
@KilleDragon, that wouldn't really be fair because only a minority of people can run it and have a shot at the leaderboards.
