An event I was invited to a while back, Turbo Fest, had an event where they accepted this game. Looking back at it, there might have been more I could have said but I was happy with the overall introduction and game performance. Was able to show off a lot of the tricks from the story mode too.

So your probably looking through the list of Shanghai games and wondering what's the difference with this Dreamcast Entry. And, what might make it one of the best. Success is a great company and thanks to being able to use the Activision Shanghai License they made a great game.

The main mode at the top is the classic shanghai gameplay. However, this time around the remaining modes are all multiplayer, Not just 1 v 1 as we have seen on some previous entries. Tournament, Dynasty, Pandemonium all offer a different way to play the game. Pandemonium in particular is a 4 player 144 tile battle on the same screen.

At this current time I have not added these modes to the leaderboard outside of the Classic, so there's an opportunity to set a record (or even beat that one). They even through in Mahjong which I have joked about on many occasions because still, I don't know how to really play it, I don't see that changing any time soon.

Other then that, rules, theme, icons, and my own run has been added to the board. Please DM me if you get a run of one of the modes and I will promptly add it if the mode is played to completion.

I had a couple of questions, not sure how many people out there would have an answer to this.

It seems like most of the cast has the same damage on normal attacks, and similar hit boxes. However when I do a certain amount of damage the enemy always seems to recover at many points.

I turned off health recovery... Is there a reason its still happening in a match?

Are there more guaranteed strats to get a pin? The health meter in this game seems to mean almost nothing, in a match if you deplete it to 0, you sometimes often still can't TKO or pin an opponent. Am I missing something here?

This game was speedrun as part of the Sega Pico Showcase at Segathon VII in 2025. Thanks to the save system and different mechanic in this game we are able to show everything off this game has to offer.

Guess what we broke the game live at Obscurathon 4, no really, the arcade mode glitchedd out so we fought 10 battles. BUT you get amazing dev commentary and lots of cool combos to look at. Check it out!

This game was officially featured this year at Anime Speedruns Festival 2025. ASF accepted both the Defeat Majunior and the Any% Category as a bonus. Both were played in the vod, check it out!

Decided to go ahead and update some things this week, and will continuing writing the rules, and testing the game further through gaming sessions.

Unfortunately @OMEGACOMA has stepped down from mod and speedrunning. Still looking for another moderator at this time. If you have a suggestion, question, or feedback please post below, or join the discord.

Here are the new updates

Renamed Categories - Any% is now Single Player. Renamed Categories - Any % Co Op is Co-Op (Unrestricted) Added Category - Co-Op (Restricted) Online Added the variable - 2 Player option to the Co-Op Restricted Online. Double Checked all runs.

Explanation of Single Player

Story Mode - Allows the use of points, and is where you can play with multiple players, It seems 5 is the limit on Steam, 4 on Playstation and 6 for Switch.

Speedrun mode - this mode is restricted to 1 player, points are unavailable.

Explanation of Online

Online Mode - this mode is also restricted, some consoles like switch and xbox are only able to invite 1 other person to a lobby. Points are unavailable to all players. You can not leave mid match, and sometimes random people can join your game because lobbies are not set to private (this issue is prevalent on Playstation more but also happens on Switch. ) Some stages like the Dragonzord stage, losing even once on the boss forces a game over.

I have posted and shared a lot more of the information on the discord. All old runs are still staying even after the update. There is no reason to archive them since the time to beat the game has gone down, especially with addition of the Power Blast moves (Attack + Special) , and the current state of the game feels more complete and less buggy then previously.

I hope this helps some people with understanding the modes. Points are also transferable between difficulties, you only need to level to max once on one file. Good Luck Rangers!
