that brings me idea to leave IL for separating parts of main carrer mode.
Good morning everyone,
I was thinking about leaderboards for AC. Let's be honest - AC is RACING SIMULATOR and it has nothing to do with speedrunning. Create "balanced" leaderboards is challenge and make it competitive is almost impossible. The state is that fictional car "Red Bull X2010", which is not even exist in real world (concept), absolutely destroyed every competition in GLOBAL and F1 category, leaving other cars without chance to achieve time somewhere near first places.
In spirit of racing simulation, I offer REWORKING of the AC leaderboards if community will accept that. If you are stop speedrunning AC because of unbalanced leaderboards, now is chance to change that. I created poll to vote so I want to know your opinion about leaderboards.
My opinion: Leaderboards are NOT balanced and allowing modded cars was mistake. Game also missing full-game boards of main game mode, which should be added. That's why I rather clear all runs and start again with original cars, which are most balanced in terms of racing. Maybe we can whitelist verified cars, which will fit real classes like "WTCC", "BTCC" and so on. Anyway, let me know.

Hello, i had no problems, maybe try to change the keys, F1 - F12 not work properly I think.
the situation about emulators is there: https://www.speedrun.com/gt2/thread/eqh24
There's in-game leaderboards for separate races.
Because I made first any% speedrun, I decided to make major changes.
Subcategories for full-game leaderboards were changed from difficulty options to "clean" and "dirty". "Clean" subcategory represent the "fair" way to beat the game, using classic rally cuts and no glitches. "Dirty" subcategory allows runner to use major cuts and glitches. These subcategories were added to IL boards too. Because game isn't famous in terms of speedrunning, changes didn't affect any existing runs because leaderboards are still empty.
Modifications are allowed with current limitations: All mods and plugins which don't affect game physics, car performance, track textures or other track visibility advantages are allowed. Runner can edit pacenotes, driving camera, digidash etc. Runner cannot modify track textures or change car physics. Original cars only (custom car skins allowed). For all crashes is every runner responsible.
I hope everything is explained correctly. 🤗
Only if we transfer Cyberscore ones first, it's pointless to make duplicate leaderboarda with slower times...
- License tests are allowed for emulators, because of IGT timing method.
- Banning emulators require reason. It is known, that emulating game such Gran Turismo 2 is very unaccurate, especially while loading, where loading times depends on PC specs.
- Changes between versions has no impact on gameplay, you can choose version you are prefer. There are no advantages to use version 1.0 or 1.2.
- Yes and no. Sony Playstation 1 is officially licensed console, which guarantees same specs for every Playstation 1 console, making most accurate way to compare all speedruns for this game. Because it's an old console, you can experience performance issues, which is disadvantage for the runner. Console runner can be compared with console runner but not with emulator runner. Emulator runner cannot be compared with emulator runner because loading and emulating speed depends on PC specs which is completely different scenario than running native windows application on different computers.
- Well, I don't know why are you asking, but probably not :D . Input lag doesn't matter while RTA timing, it can affect your gameplay but not final time.
Maybe we can't guarantee same conditions but we can guarantee that current rules are most compatible for speedrunning community for now. You still can speedrun on emulator and compare yourself with boards ;) .
- You're right, it is. Also, it is official licensed product by Sony, automatically making this device allowed in terms of speedrunning.
- ePSXe 2.0.5 is slower than old versions. Even worse, emulation speed depends on user PC specs, making impossible to compare other emulator runs.
- Differences between licensed consoles are ok but differences between 3rd party emulation softwares are biggest issue in speedrunning. Emulation is still not accurate enough these days and own WR because you're lucky enough and own PC with great performance is not acceptable in speedrunning.
You guys can look at that old thread I made year ago, where I was at your place. New possible runner wanting to make emulators allowed. Unfortunately, this is not gonna happen right now due performance differences.
Probably car which doesnt even exist because top speed is over 600 km in few seconds
Hello, yes, I rejected that runs because that car is not even close to the other cars, there's no other car to compete against that.... In spirit of simulation, let's make some competition, use cars that are balanced a little bit.
Hello,
Few weeks ago, I requested "World Rally Championship" ( https://www.speedrun.com/world_rally_championship )series but I didn't received supermod permissions. How can I achieve it? I'm moderating almost every game from that series.
No, because leaderboards for tracks are in-game in "rivals" mode.
You are able to overclock, however, every moderator notice the difference so no chance to cheat or something.
