Sorry if this has been asked before
I was reading through the rules, and was just wondering what it meant when it said about SOCD resolution. I play on a smash box, on the switch emulator, and it defaults any opposite inputs to neutral. Would this be OK, or would I have to change this? Thanks
Yes, neutral resolution is fine, you just need some way of preventing opposite inputs. The other half of the rule (abusing the SOCD method) is that you can't intentionally press opposite directions and rely on your controller's behavior. For instance in Absolute-Priority or Last-Priority, you can't hold Right and tap Left for walljumps. With Neutral Priority, you can't intentionally hold both directions and rely on getting a neutral input.
The rule is "you can't intentionally press opposite directions" due to Snes9x where this is left priority when you do L+R and up priority when you do U+D.
But Snes9x being the main emulator for people like me which cannot play on console and get "potatoes" PC, If you ban Snes9x, runners numbers for this game (as well as for all snes games) would drop heavily.
That's why there is no clear rule stating that Regular SOCD (L+R = N and U+D = N) only is allowed but you must play the game like if you have regular socd.
