Hello, this is going to be a place where I'll be throwing in PMW3 DS Videos of glitches and tricks, as i've recently got my hands on the game and have been doing a lot of testing. These will only be videos that will either help/spark new ideas so no dumb ds moments here. This guide will continue to update as more things are found

## Movement


The fastest form of movement is Rev Rolling, which is done by holding down the Rev Roll button. You need to hold down the button for at least one third of a second in order to successfully perform a Rev Roll, and you can get maximum distance by holding down the button for at least one second. Anything longer than one second provides no further increase in distance. In areas where Rev Rolls are not feasible, jumping constantly is the next fastest form of movement.

Other movement options include Butt Bouncing and Wall Jumping. Butt Bouncing can be done by pressing the jump button while in midair. Pac-Man can do up to 3 Butt Bounces after a jump before having to jump again. Wall Jumping is done by pressing the punch button while either sliding down a wall or moving towards a wall. You can Butt Bounce while in the air after a wall jump. The analog stick will also slightly adjust Pac-Man's movement direction while in the air after a wall jump.

## Rev Roll Jumping


Jumping during a Rev Roll can be used for many different skips, especially when used off a ledge to reach a far away area. After Rev Rolling off a ledge, there is still a bit of time for Pac-Man to jump despite being in the air. Pressing the jump button at the latest possible time will usually maximize the distance of a Rev Roll Jump. Starting a Rev Roll near an edge or doing a Rev Roll Jump on a downward facing slope will decrease the time available to jump while in the air.

Rev Roll Jumping onto a slope or while going up a slope results in the Rev Roll continuing infinitely until the slope ends, regardless of how long the Rev Roll was charged for. This is known as an Infinite Rev Roll, and it is useful for rolling up long slopes and for some skips.

## Punch Jumping


Although Pac-Man normally can't jump on slopes, he can do so if he is in the middle of his punch animation. Pressing the punch button and the jump button in quick succession allows Pac-Man to jump while on a slope. This is convenient for movement and several skips.

Punch jumping is also useful for stopping your momentum during a Rev Roll. While you'd normally need to do a Rev Roll Jump or wait for a Rev Roll to reach maximum distance if you wanted to exit a Rev Roll, punching stops you completely and allows you to jump instantly.

## Superjumping


If Pac-Man climbs the very edge of a climbable wall, he will enter a glitched climbing animation where he slowly goes up before stopping part of the way up the wall. Pressing the punch button during this animation will send Pac-Man flying up in the air. The higher up Pac-Man is when pressing the punch button, the faster he will fly up. A Superjump can be done on any climbable wall that has a floor below it.

## Damage Values


All enemies and bosses in the game have a certain amount of health and are affected the same by these attacks.

Punch: 1 damage for each of the first two punches in a combo, 2 damage for the last punch
Butt Bounce: 2 damage for each of the first two bounces in a combo, 4 damage for the last bounce
Rev Roll: 6 damage

## Avoiding Softlocks


There are several potential softlocks that you should know how to avoid.

In Spectral Vale, if you void out while attempting to skip the first Clyde fight, you need to reactivate Clyde before trying to skip it again. Otherwise, you'll softlock when trying to activate Clyde later in the level.

At the end of Spectral Vale, Clyde's textbox must disappear before the level ending cutscene starts in order to avoid a softlock. The easiest way to do this is to wait for Clyde to start saying "it's 'cause I'm busy" before using Sonic Boo.

In Zephyr Heights, you can get an infinite loading screen when you void out after placing the first propeller in the windmill if you don't void out quickly enough. Voiding out is slightly faster but can lead to this softlock if not done properly.

In Spectral Zenith, if you void out a second time during the second Spectral Fight on the moving platform, you'll spawn at the bottom. There is no way to finish the level from this point, so you are forced to restart the level.

PC Version Setup

## Recording

The easiest way to record is to force the game into windowed mode and then use Window Capture in OBS.

Follow these steps in order to get Pac-Man World 3 running in windowed mode using dxwnd:

1. Download, extract, and run dxwnd from https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd
2. Go to Edit -> Add. Select the game's executable (PMA_W32_M.exe) for both Path and Launch. Click 'OK'.
3. Double click on 'PacMan_World_3' in the games list in order to run the game.

## Setting Up Your Controller (DS3)

If you're on Windows 10, you have to disable driver signature enforcement in order to use the MotioninJoy driver. In order to do this, follow Option Two here: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers

Follow these steps in order to set up the MotioninJoy drivers and BetterDS3:

1. Download and extract the MotioninJoy drivers from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1M9E5lnUci003hSJ1Tep5cNbQ6lGFCGbr/view?usp=sharing
2. Plug in your DS3 controller. Go to the Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, and it should show up there.
3. Double click on it, go to Hardware -> USB Input Device -> Properties -> Change Settings
4. Go to Driver -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer... -> Let me pick... -> Have Disk... -> Browse...
5. Choose the drivers folder that you downloaded and then proceed with the installation.
6. Download and extract BetterDS3 from http://betterds3.ciebiera.net
7. Run BetterDS3. Your controller should show up under 'Connected DS3 Controllers'.
8. Go to New -> XInput. Click 'Auto Fill: Xbox 360'. Customize the button configuration as necessary.

## Setting Up Your Controller (X360)

These files:

- Increase the rectangular correction to allow full movement without Pac-Man slowing down when moving in certain directions.
- Remap the controls to match the PS2 version's control layout when using the default controls.

## Changing the Game's Resolution

1. Download the config.ini file from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1sm8IEp_rYfgk7lBMDDSfCdXp_FU9-DcY
2. Edit the 'xres' and 'yres' lines of this file to the resolution that you want.
3. Move this file to '%APPDATA%/Electronic Arts/Pac-Man World 3'

WARNING: Changing your resolution affects some things like the camera's behavior on Superjumps. It is recommended to keep the game's resolution at 640x480 for speedruns.

## LiveSplit Auto Splitter

The PC version of Pac-Man World 3 has an Auto Splitter available for use within LiveSplit. In order to activate it, change your game name to 'Pac-Man World 3' and click on the 'Activate' button. The Auto Splitter will automatically start the timer, reset the timer when going back to the main menu, and split at the end of each level and when the final boss is defeated. If you compare against Game Time, it will also remove loading times.

## Practice Save Files

Here is a program that lets you choose which practice saves you want on each of the 3 slots and automatically copies them. This also includes practice saves for every relevant save point in the Any% speedrun.

In order to copy over the high scores as well, copy 'PracticeFiles/OPTMW3' to '%APPDATA%/Electronic Arts/Pac-Man World 3'.

PSP Version Differences

General:
-Spectral Monsters don't always appear four at a time, it's mostly 2 at a time with some exception
-Superjumps give you more height, but less distance.
-Restarting levels does NOT give you six lives unless you are playing on Easy mode
-All power ups (including power pellets) last 8 seconds longer (power ups last about 12 seconds on PC/Console and 20 seconds on PSP)
-Save points do not exist

Bot Boneyard:
-If you die trying to do Arm Skip, a cutscene will start, not allowing you to move for ~5 seconds
-The extra life before Arm Skip does not exist
-The cutscene that plays during the final elevator starts before getting on the elevator, not allowing you to move for ~5 seconds


Banni Wastelands:
-Everything before the spectral fight does not exist
-The cutscene before the first Pac-Dot Chain does not exist
-Puzzle Skip has an alternate (But slower) method (https://youtu.be/Z8yM47PBGv0)
-The Console/PC version of Puzzle Skip does work, but is a bit trickier due to PSP's different superjump mechanics and awkward camera

Spectral Cliffs:
-Orson appears on the "Try smashing the blue crystals" text box rather than Pac-Man
-There are only four spectral monsters in the first spectral fight, rather than eight
-The second spectral fight also only has four monsters and all four appear at once, rather than 2
-The third spectral fight has four monsters appear at once, and the longer lasting power pellets make a 2 cycle easy
-The fourth spectral fight has four monsters appear at once, and only has four monsters to fight
-The fifth spectral fight has three monsters appear at once, and only has six monsters to fight

Gogekka Central:
-Both versions of Fight Skip are not possible

Spectral Vale:
-Everything before the first spectral fight does not exist

Zephyr Heights:
-The first fight is skipable (https://youtu.be/3F4FtNMrfI8)
-The console version of gate early is not possible, but there is a PSP exclusive version of it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oElxKG-S7eA)
-The pillar beside the door right after gate early doesn't exist, making door skip impossible
-The four parts on the outside of Gigatron take two less hits

Ancient Catacombs:
-Fire does not shoot up at the beginning
-There is only one scorpion where we do detonator skip
 -The lower level of detonator skip has different collision which might make the skip impossible (I couldn't get it to work but it could still be possible) but the upper level skip is still possible
-The spectral fight has three monsters come out at once
-Only one laser enemy is at the syphon

Gogekka Heights:
-The first laser enemy in the slime rising section is removed
-The door in the big fire room doesn't open back up if you void out or die, but you can easily clip through it by wall jumping


Banni Canyon:
-Everything before the first spectral fight has been removed
-The cactus for cactus jump is removed but it's collision still exists
-The spectral fight in the spinning room only has 2 spectral monsters instead of 3

Toc-Man Battle is the same length as other versions

Cragstone Bridge:
-A fence is added where you would normally wall jump before red crystal skip
-The rocks on the left side of the bridge don't exist, making bridge early super easy
-There is no laser gate next to the big boxes making a damage boost on top of the boxes impossible and requiring Clyde to destroy the boxes
-The left wall for syphon skip has been removed and the collision of the front wall doesn't allow you to ledge grab, making the normal way of syphon skip impossible (not sure if there is a way to skip it in this version)
-You have to kill the three enemies before the big enemy will break through the door
-The room after the door is a lot smaller
-The giant puzzle room is completely removed
-The chrome ball at the beginning of the big vertical section is replaced with a super stomp
 -More height from superjumps makes the final fight skip easier

Erwin's Fortress:
-The first (elevator section) and second (the bridge section) sections don't exist. Since the second section doesn't exist, the key card that you need to go back to the second section for is just in the room it's needed in
-The lasers on the spinning platform don't exist, but the models of where they are supposed to shoot out of are still there
-The huge fight near the end has been removed

Dungen Gunden:
-If you go a bit too straight during platforming skip, instead of pac-man becoming invisible and losing collision, everything becomes invisible but keeps it's collision. If you go completely straight, however, then everything becomes invisible (except for Pac-Man) and loses collision
-There is no fire during the big fight section


The Spectral Zenith:
-The laser in the first section is removed, meaning no mirror is required
-The second section is removed
-The three spectral fights on the elevator does not exist
-The crystal/time key puzzle is replaced with a spectral fight
-You can't rev roll to the big spectral fight near the end. You have to use the blinking platforms
-There are only about 12 monsters in the final spectral monster fight (for comparison, the console/pc versions have about 41 monsters)

Shadow Temple:
The Blinky and Inky containers only take three rev rolls to break instead of four

Will add more differences as I find them.

Do this in quick succession on the main menu, and you should have all levels and mazes unlocked.
