This is a fucking travesty. This game is barely standing on it's two feet, and you want to beat to it's knees and keep it in the dirt with these incomprehensible decisions and moderation. Don't you think you'd rather come up with simplistic lenient rules, that would be easy to setup on DuckStation, and entice older fans and newcomers to come in and try it out? Some games have so many sub-sections on their boards it's like going through a maze, and instead of making a new separate category, if you care oh-so-much about the "sanctity" of old runs, that would serve as an introductory category, so people can get their footing in this game, and potentially explore the rest, you rather just double down on literal stupidity and destroy everything for everyone.
And Sena is too much of a pleasant guy to bring this up, but I don't care, cause I have nothing to lose, no runs, etc., you're arguing with the most consistent runner of this game, and at this point in time, the most recognizable one too, someone who took a big part in routing Nightmare 100%, who single-handedly serves as an IV Pack for this game, keeping it on life support. And who is trying to argue with him? Someone who haven't touched this game in 2 years in any serious capacity, and a guy with a single run on an EMU, that's so bad it's 30 seconds slower than SuperGamer's run from 7 years ago that was played on literal physical PS1. Don't you think that you're the ones who should be listening to people like Sena, Symm, Retro and IfAndWhile, and not the other way around? Some of these guys are literally clamoring for a moderation position on this game, but you refuse to yield it for w/e reason.
This game had at least a steady heartbeat back in the day when SuperGamer was around, when Sigma was doing stuff, people like Zoey were playing this too, even Duds was playing it a bit, if I remember correctly, but all of that is gone now. However, you have Sigma 2.0 in Sena right now, who's desperately trying to resuscitate this game. If not give one of your mod positions to him, shouldn't you at least back him up at every opportunity? Or at least have some human fucking decency and respond relatively quickly and not in literal 5 months? And don't start your "oh I'm so overwhelmed in real life" shit, this stuff takes 10-15 minutes tops, there's ZERO excuse for why people have to wait for literal months to get a response.
Truth be told, I despise this website, and the constant moronic, petty, incomprehensible drama that occurs for majority of games, that's why I'm never here, and never really wanted to be. But this was the last straw, and I think some people here need a reality check provided to them by someone who won't mince words. The solution, as I said before, is simplistic, just define clear cut, simple to follow and understand rules, concede on x10 game speed-up, cause it makes no sense that people like you, who are so strapped for time you take literal months to respond here, would argue against it, and by doing so deliver a blow to other people's timetable, and make a separate category for newcomers, so they can have some fun without wasting time. And for crying out loud, either concede one of your positions, or just mod someone like Sena, so this game can be proprely represented here. I will admit that months back when this was first brought up I may have misunderstood and didn't realize settings were changed. That's my fault but while future updates could speed up the game similar to PC, changing read/seek settings are on most emulators and not allowed in the category rules.

If you adjust these settings Duckstation gives a warning in the onscreen messages that it may cause instability, which should be a clear indicator that you shouldnt be adjusting it for competing in speedruns.

Not sure why you have to sling insults my way. I have never commented on 100% kills because I don't know the run and don't plan to run it. You are also effectively saying since my time isn't good enough I should have no say in the matter when you yourself don't even have a time on the leaderboard.

SH1 and RE1: mentions clock speed control, read speedup and frame rate, not seek speedup. In my runs for example, I complied with all rules mentioned there. Note that these games are measured in IGT, so disk speedup would only make RTA faster and the games more enjoyable to run, provided they don't break emulation.

Important point for SH1 and spyro: The console and emu leaderboards are unified, so there needs to be extra attention to ensuring whatever timing method carries over between these. This does not apply to this game, where categories are separated.
Here's another example: MGS1 (image shown below).
Yes, seek speedup is a case-by-case situation, which requires testing to ensure the game doesn't break. And in fact, using infinite speed up I did have PE2 crash occasionally, but I've been playing at 10x for months, both NG Any% and Nightmare 100%, with no issues whatsoever. Apparently Setyan too, and if someone would come in and say they had crashes, I'd be right there with you and agree that no one should use it. This is why these things beget discussion and input, which is literally all we're hoping for and never get.

I like how this is what you take away from that entire wall. The fact that you were vaguely insulted takes precedence over everything else. And yeah, I may not have a fucking time on a leaderboard, but my contribution to this game, to the routes, and to just guiding people on their playthroughs and helping them out on the runs, dwarfs yours in comparison. Instead of trying to make it about you, how about instead you make it about all other people involved and the whole game in general?

Honestly, no since when I learned the run Wolf changed the route and made a video guide and I never intended to do 100% so I can't say I searched for them

I watched it during livestreams as well as him testing out the route. Guide may not have been the best word cause I don't know if he actually published a edited video to youtube

Hello, I'm newer here but thought I'd chime in to my experience with this game. My first completed run (on the board) was with no seek speed. Since then I've been using 10x since discovering there were other runs using it and no rule against it, and running the game has felt much better in my opinion, it saves time to do more runs, more practice, less playtime overall to spend on other things, and less sitting waiting around for screen to load. In that, I find it to be great. It makes for a more enjoyable experience, and made me want to grind out more runs. Then I saw the news about the rule changes yesterday.
I advocate for the 10x seek speed, simply because it's available to everyone, and everyone can benefit from it, if they are aware they can use it. There could be the current board and then another with the seek speed setting. Not only is it saving time for everyone, but in a way it is a little more competitive, you have less time to think about what's next, it draws on you knowing the game and knowing the screens, flipping directions in your head due to Aya's start position in the camera frame, and which direction to already be holding before it loads, further rewarding players that know the game inside and out.
I plan to be an active runner on this game for awhile, improving my time as much as I can and clawing my way up the leaderboard, maybe taking WR one day, so I hope my 2 cents can help out. Thanks.
@SirRetro91 7 months ago because of the respect I did hold for him, I knew that he ran the game for a while and he is a really good player, so verification went as ok let me check if he started splits correctly , let me see some of the fights , let me see if he split the last boss split correctly, and I was like "damn runs are getting fast this dude grinds a lot ! much respect" it was because of trust which it seems cannot be done anymore and a whole 1h+ run has to be seen from beginning to end.
Regarding guides only difference between my guide from 6 years ago and Sena's run 10days ago is one use of Flare (safer) instead of 2 necrosis which saves what 2 seconds? , and the gray stinger kill at entrance for the spartan ammo for puppet stinger boss fight later on , we used to use hydras that's about it every other boss fight, line, ammo route is exactly the same as on that old guide.
Also @Amai_Fox is just a verifier because he wanted to help and was made mod for a day so that he could edit the "rules" section, sigma88 and supergamer are not around as of now and themixedherb is Parasite Eve's series whole supermod, yes this game does need more verifiers/mods I agree with that , but at the end if you are a runner just state a VOTE #1 or #2 and whatever wins should be set up , and the "simplistic lenient rules, that would be easy to setup on DuckStation" is literally DEFAULT dont move anything what is more simple than that? Sertyan started doing it trying to be sneaky , broke WR with it and then Sena got upset they beat his time and "ohh well I'll do it too" because I want my name on #1 situation, even if Setyan had his name #1 for 5months, 7 months ,a year by a mistake of not catching that up it should not make others just do the same if he would of kept running the game at defaults and setyan run would of just gotten deleted it would still bump your runs higher, also pretty messed up to be ohh your time is shiet Amai so why should we listen to you? the dude was just trying to help with the boards, also who is "clamoring" for modding position we need more mods ?
p.s. Interesting fact I have 213hours in the game live streamed, amai_fox has 340h, sena 239h, ifandwhile 86.3h, toxic_tt 129h, and sirtretro 496h and those are the biggest numbers which puts in contrast who is keeping the game "alive" and is or were putting out content for it (and that is without counting youtube vids) so if anything Retro and Amai are the ones that streamed it the longest and has been keeping the game out of its "IV pack" more than anyone else including myself because routing offline (which I have personally do so as well) does not keep the game alive or it give it exposure on the internet putting out content does, and this is not me saying yo this peoples votes count more but it is in response to Gren trying to put down amai for having a bad time on a speedrun so his vote or opinion counts less as the others he noted, this type of mindset is not right.
VOTE GUYS so we can get out of this and just move on to more runs, have fun !

THIS WHOLE ISSUE is literally between Sena and Setyan, 2 people only using speed ups to get ahead of the board for the "glory" of WR while everyone else is using standard preset values on settings.
Just for clarity's sake, can you explain again how upset and heartbroken I was when my time was taken, how badly I want the glory of the WR on the 25 year old game that hardly anyone plays, and how big of a cheater I am for speeding up the load times which is very, very obviously clearly cheating? And as for providing answers to my concerns, even if you didn't latch onto the "I'm being insulted ova' 'ere!" act, you still wouldn't be able to provide any answers to anything, cause you got none. Here would this fix the issue? Parasite Eve II - Speedrun new console/ emu added where it specifies x2 read and x10 seek speedups , those runs could go there and all carries on and that can get grinded if wanted . yes ? no ? questions?
