Low% run demands a brand new playthrough. Using a maxed out suit spoils the challenge and threat of this run. So once you start your game, named your pilot and did the intro mission, you are done. That is all the money you will be allowed to earn for the lowest% of the game. You can trade in the two starter suits for some more money, allowing you to get better suits or money for upgrades. It is up to you what you feel might be the best suits.

The cannons (GM/Zeku) might be the best bang for your money; having the cannon but trading off for armor and mobility, the GM-Type D might be the better suits for E.F.F and Zeku II or Goof appear the best for Zeon, in terms of mobility and fire power.

The tricks to save time is to do the least amount of menuing you can. While you can almost max out the GM for E.F.F, it would cost you more time in the menus then not upgrading. The more you can mash X to 12.25 the sooner you can finish.

For E.F.F I suggest Type-D, with upgrade into type heavy, then into defense and/or attack. Note, you will need to trade in the GM and the guntank for this. Getting a second rank into Defense or attack gives you melee protection and melee damage upgrades, which while the melee damage can see use the melee defense is pointless, if they hit you at all with any of their armed melee attacks, you lose a body part or die fullstop. However, the shot defense from Defense 1 and heavy type upgrade, lets you take two direct hits to the torso and not die. (Granted at that point, even the flying units can kill you with their guns.) Otherwise, this mission is very much do it as you normally do, just do it safer... Which can also mean faster. If you hit them hard enough they can't hit you, easy pickings. Just keep in mind your HP. Yellow HP means you can likely take a direct hit from beam rifle or missile. Orange means death is coming. While shotgun or Zaku gun won't out right kill you, a beam rifle or missile could. Red is death. Any direct hit can be fatal. Air units might not kill you, and maybe you can take a few more bullets, but a beam or missile you are done, try again.

For Zeon. I am not sure, If the Goof is there and you can afford a main gun with it. It is likely the best pick. If it is not, Type S or base Zaku II are the best options. Neither are appealing, given the difficulty of Zeon side. But the same upgrades apply. Any Shot defense/shot damage you can get is worth getting. Heavy type for a slight edge of stats for both attack and defense. Try not to get caught out. Those guntanks will melt you. Stay back for a while. Shooting the air force in VERY important. If they destroy your resupply base by the HQ, that is it. You lose. Like actually lost. You can no longer resupply; as both resupply points are tied to that point. If the AI won't shot down the air units, and you run out of ammo before doing the same. Softlocked. Even if you kill all the ground forces you need to eliminate all E.F.F forces to win the mission. So protect those supply bases with your life. Once you hit third phase and air forces are dealt with. You need to watch those guntanks. They will not turn around to shot you, so if to can get behind them you are safe, from them only. The gundam (G) units they are spending out can and will still shot at you. And once you've killed a wave of the guntanks the new ones will spawn and beable to fire at you. So this is a hit and run mission. You want to push into the hill by the middle, and take out the mobile suits near the mined out hole, so you can use it for cover. Once in side of that hole, you are relatively safe. From there, you are going to only peek out to attack or get behind a set of guntanks. There is six of them on the map, four are together, in groups of two. And the other two on the other side of the map have mobile suits protecting them. Once those waves and gone, you will have won. There are three to four waves a group. So you need to shot down about 18 gunranks at minimum. (Sorry, I am not sure the exact amount of waves. The Group of four guntanks are actually two groups of two. They spawn 3 times, I believe, the two on the other side spawn 3 waves. They could spawn more. But it is 3 or more waves. Making 18 guntanks or more. The mobile suits do the same!) You will be told when you have cleared the wave and more are coming, "Reinforcements are coming." That means two more of whatever unit you just killed are spawning in. Be it guntanks or the mobile suits. So when you kill them and they say nothing. That is it, nothing else coming, tied to that group.
