I think timer is not obligatory but recommended, and a RTA timer is fine, but also if you want to make the work easier for the mods, you can put an IGT timer.

Yeah it's just that every IGT timer I've tried just hasn't worked, no matter how much troubleshooting I do.
well, in that case just use an RTA timer only, a mod can retime IGT. But how I said, it's easier work for the mods if you use a IGT timer also
Pretty new to speedrunning here and trying to learn how things are scored, can someone explain to me the relevance of RTA? Most places people seem to be implying that IGT is the metric by which speedruns are ranked, but if that's the case is there a reason for RTA to be measured at all (on RSG runs, of course) and displayed on the leaderboard? Is it that a large discrepancy between the two is taken into account or something?
