Hey everyone. To all the Linux users out there, good news! You can now submit full game speedruns timed with In-Game Time without requiring the Livesplit autosplitter because, well, Livesplit isn't supported on Linux. There are a few new verification requirements that your submissions will need to adhere to in order to qualify. You can find them in the General Rules section of the Karlson SRC page, but I will drop them here as well:

• In-Game Audio turned on and clearly audible
• In-Game Music turned on and clearly audible
• No background audio that interferes with the clarity of In-Game Audio/Music

Final decision goes to the moderation team to determine if your submission meets these standards. To be safe, please turn the volume up rather than trying to make it as quiet as possible.

Oh, this also applies to MacOS users. I think I've seen like two of you out there, so yeah. Peace 8)

The Sandbox 1 leaderboard has been shaken up in the last few days due to the discovery of a brand new strat by a new runner, @humanhuman.

On July 8th, he posted on the Karlson Discord server a screenshot of a Sandbox 1 time of 3.20s - unbeknownst to him, a world record.

Unfortunately, it was not recorded.

The new strat consists of a combination of a boomer shot and a table boost, whereas the old strat consisted of exclusively boomer shots, and had its speed limited due to overshooting. The table allows you to get speed directed towards the milk, which allows you to get more speed without the risk of overshooting.

The very next day, legend @sirtymoo shattered the record with a time of 3.01s

At this point, it seemed unavoidable that someone would break the 3 second barrier very soon.

After that a series world record close calls ensued, some notable times being @nonagonn's 3.03s, @Term's 3.02s, and @cZar_Void's 3.02s.

On the 11th, something that was thought to be impossible for the past three years happened. The 3 second barrier was broken by @Term with a time of 2.98s.

This is truly a new era on one of Karlson's shortest maps, and only time can tell what other speedy times lie ahead.

We have now added Level Segment categories for All Enemies and Gunless, giving 6 more categories for everyone to try! You can find them in the Level Segments category on the full game main page.

@FOPAWESOME has broken the years of @sirtymoo domination (around 2 years i believe) and is the new world record holder for the any% full-game category.

We just got a category extension leaderboad for karlson !

As of now we have moved the following categories:

Death, Long Runs, Double Crouch, Escape Escape

So don't get confused why your runs in those categories are suddenly gone. We have moved all runs to their "category extension" category counterpart.

The category extension leaderboard will be less strict about categories, so if you have any ideas or categories that were too obscure for the main board, then they might have a place there.

As of now all runs submitted that are possibly in the top 10 of their selected category are required to have their ingame speed displayed.

Runs submitted before this date arent affected by this. Simply turn on the speed display whenever you speedrun , even if you dont think it will be top10. If a run in the top 10 doesnt have their speed displayed it will get rejected, unless we find some way to counterweight it and verify it somehow else.
