Any% guide for mobile (iOS/Android) (WIP)

This will eventually be a comprehensive guide to Any% run of iOS version of Galaxy on Fire 2 HD. The strategy here is different from PC version, which will be in a separate guide. 

- Part 0, preparations

You will need a save file on Var Hastra before any dialogue is triggered. To create such a file:
1) start a game normally and watch all the cutscenes before Var Hastra
2) tap rapidly at the point on the screen where the "Menu" button is. If the dialogue starts, skip it and reload the autosave, then repeat this step
3) save into a new slot
The optimal way to start a run will be to load this save file, since the timing starts at that point

- Part 0.5, general tips

1) Dismounting scanners allows you to fast-forward in hostile territory. Just remember it to understand why it is recommended to unequip the scanner at different points of the run
2) Swiping the screen increases your speed. You keep the same forward speed, and you get a burst of speed sideways. So when you are unable to fastforward, aim slightly to the side of your destination and swipe in the opposite side to reach the destination as fast as possible
3) Swiping also allows you to fast-forward when you are too close to your target (<1.3km). Swipe and then hold where the fast-forward button is. Using that will allow you to dock the station faster or reach the jumpgate faster. It doesn't save a lot of time, but it's quite easy to do

- Part 1, Mido

Mission 1.
Skip the dialogue and depart from the station;
Set autopilot to the Asteroid field and skip the dialogue;
Hold the "Fast Forward" button (later: FF) and find an asteroid that is the closest to the station
Mine 10 tons from an asteroid. Stop mining when you reach 10t and set autopilot to the station;
Skip the dialogue and FF until docking;

Mission 2.
The same tactics as Mission 1, but mine 25t. You will need an asteroid of class C or higher for that;
When you finish mining, a pirate will attack, so you won't be able to FF;

Mission 3.
Skip the dialogue and go to Hangar;
Dismiss all the prompts and transfer all the gear to the ship;
Equip the Nirai laser and the armor plate, dismiss the dialogue, exit Hangar and depart from the station;
Set autopilot to the Waypoint and FF;
When pirates show up, shoot them as fast as possible. Tip: stop your engines and just tank their shots, they won't be able to take you out on Normal difficulty;
As soon as three pirates are defeated, set autopilot to the station, skip the dialogue and FF;
When you dock, skip the dialogues and perform Gunant's Drill Glitch;

Gunant's Drill Glitch:
Reload the autosave;
Quickly tap on Hangar;
You should be able to open the Hangar menu before the dialogue triggerts;
Go to Ship and unequip Gunant's Drill;

Mission 4;
Go to Kernstall;
Skip the dialogue and go to Yrdal Gedal;
Skip the dialogue and go to hangar;
Unequip IMT Extract 1.3;
Sell the IMT Extract and the Machine Gun;
If there are Edos, buy them and equip them;
If there is a Small Cabin for sale, buy and equip it as well;
Go back to Kernstal;

Mission 5;
Go to Hangar and check for Edos and a Small Cabin if you didn't find them on Yrdal Gedal;
Go to space lounge and search for the best quest. Ideally, you'll need a Courier mission. The next candidate is a Passenger mission, if you managed to buy a Small Cabin; If you have Edos, you may consider Pirates mission, although they take more time than the previous two. Wagers and Cosmic Junk missions are a no-go. If you only find those, it is faster and easier to go to a different station and try your luck there;
After finishing the mission, if you are on a station you didn't visit before (Deuter IV or Heinstein) and you don't have Edos, check for them;
Go back to Kernstal;
Use Edos to kill any pirate the fastest; if you don't have Edos still, just shoot them with your primary weapon. You need to kill one pirate to trigger the cutscene which will advance you to Alioth system.

Important Tips To Know for the Any% Run

The following is a guide to some of the important things that you will need to know to complete an Any% speedrun of Galaxy on Fire 2. These are in no particular order, and I'll keep adding onto this guide if any new discoveries are made or if I remember anything that I left out initially. I am not sure if all of this will work for the PC version, as I am not familiar with it, but everything applies to mobile.

**1. Item Duplication**
Item duplication is a very useful trick that can net you lots of credits fast. In the Any% speedrun, it is used with Gunant's drill at the beginning of the game. To successfully duplicate items every time, follow these steps:

•If the item you wish to duplicate is currently mounted on your ship, dismount it, then find it in the hangar. If not, proceed straight to the item in the hangar. 

•Press the arrow to sell the item, but do not let go. Scroll the screen upwards (a flick works best) until the ships are visible. 

•Without touching anything else on the screen, touch one of the ships. The game only registers your item as bought or sold once you any other item in the shop, but for some reason, this does not apply to your ships. Thus, the item will remain in your inventory, but you will have gotten the credits for selling it. 

•Go to your ship in the hangar. Mount your duplicated item to your ship. Then, go back to the shop and touch any non-ship item. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you do not do this, when you dismount the item from your ship, it will disappear.* As long as you touch a non-ship item in the shop, your item will stay in your inventory. 

Congratulations, you've just duplicated an item. If you wish, dismount your item and duplicate again for more credits. 
*Note: This step is not mandatory when duplicating secondary weapons. They will not disappear from your inventory. 

**2. Fast Forward**
The game's fast-forward mechanic is your friend during this speedrun. It is used continuously for much of the run. You are able to fast-forward when there are no enemies picked up on your scanner (hence why it is more efficient to keep the scanner dismounted at all times unless necessary), and when you are far enough away from the destination that you are locked onto. Fast-forwarding only works when you are locked onto a destination. At around 1.3km, the fast-forward option goes away, but have no fear! By swiping to dodge, the fast-forward prompt appears for a brief period. If you press it, you will fast-forward for that small amount of time. This can be done as many times as needed until the destination is reached. And now for more specific instances where fast-forwarding is used. 

•Unless locking onto an asteroid, as long as you bring the engines of your ship to 0 before you lock on to your destination, you will be able to fast-forward while stationary. This is used on Dima before the probe mission to get the wormhole to move. It is also used to fast-forward the Khador Drive animation later in the game.

•There is a trick that can be done to allow free movement while in a fast-forwarded state. Lock onto an asteroid, but make sure that your ship's weapons are autofiring. Fast-forward toward the asteroid when locked on. Eventually, your weapons will destroy the asteroid, but as long as you hold the fast-forward button, you will be fast-forwarded. You can then use the control stick to control the ship  while fast-forwarded. This is used to speed up the probe mission, as it is a a mission where you must survive until the timer runs out, and fast-forwarding your ship also fast-forwards the timer. It is also used to speed up in the Void during the final mission. 

Side Note- Boosters: Boosters increase the speed at which you travel. Naturally, they help a lot in speedruns. The Synchrotron boost is the best, but Cyclotron works well too. The Linear boost, while not ideal, works well enough.  For a beginner, getting a Cyclotron or Synchrotron is not the highest priority. Boosters can be used in conjunction with fast-fowarding to make you travel even faster. The Linear boost increases your speed by 60%, the Cyclotron by 80%, and the Synchrotron by 160%. (The Me'al is a faster booster with a 200% speed boost, but it is only found at Vossk stations, meaning that it is highly unlikely to be found in a speedrun). 

**3. Gunant's Drill Glitch**
Gunant's Drill Glitch is a unique glitch that takes place directly after the fight with pirates at Var Hastra with Gunant. It allows you to take Gunant's drill (which will eventually be duplicated for copious amounts of credits), as opposed to having it taken from you as it normally is. I will now detail how to pull off this glitch: 

•Fight and defeat the three pirates with Gunant. This one has nothing to do with the trick itself, but I included it here to remind you where it takes place. 

•Dock at the station. Skip the first dialogue box, then open up the settings and click "Load Game."

•Skip the second dialogue box that appears and reload the autosave. Immediately, spam-tap the hangar, and you should end up in the hangar. 

•Go to your ship and dismount Gunant's drill. It's now yours. I'm sure Gunant won't miss it. 

The second dialogue box will reappear once you exit the hangar. This is normal, and the glitch has still been successfully executed. 

**4. Weaponry**
This will detail the best weapons to get for this run to minimize the amount of time spent in combat encounters. 

•In Mido, the Nirai Impulse is the best secondary weapon for fighting the pirates, as it has a better range than the Micro Gun. As for secondary weapons, Edos are best, though if you aren't looking for a super optimized time, Jet Rockets will work in a pinch. 

•In the rest of the game, the best primary weapons are the M6A2 Cougar and the M6A1 Wolf, in that order. Other weapons will work fine; the Berger Converge weapons aren't that bad if you can't get an M6 weapon. As for secondary weapons, as soon as you reach Thynome, Intelli Jets are the only secondary weapon you will need for the duration of the run. The blueprint can be found in the Thynome space lounge, sold by a Vossk. Make 40 Intelli Jets (autocomplete the blueprint four times), and then equip them to your ship. 40 should be more than enough to last you the entire run. 
Intelli Jets are some of the best secondary weapons in the game. They have a range of 10km, meaning that they can hit targets from extremely long ranges. They also do a high amount of damage, usually taking out about half of the enemy's health. It also does EMP damage, not that your target will live long enough to be stunned by the EMP. The Intelli Jet is an invaluable addition to your arsenal and can speed up combat encounters by a lot.

**5. Equipment**
Throughout the run, various equipment is needed to be mounted to your ship. The following is a list of all the optimal equipment. It is unecessary (not to mention rare) to find all of this equipment for a speedrun, but it helps. 

•Mining Laser- Gunant's Drill. This one just makes sense. It is the best drill in the game, and you have already stolen it from Gunant with Gunant's Drill Glitch (see above). Gunant's drill allows you to mine the fifty Void Crystals faster and easier than other drills. 

•Armor- E6. The E6 armor is the best armor that is readily accessible during the run. If you don't find an E6, E4 works fine in conjunction with a good shield (see below). Upgrade your armor as soon as possible. If you are stuck with E2 until the end of the game, chances are you will die because the E2 armor is weak.

•Shield- Beamshield II. The Beamshield II is the best shield that is readily accessible during the run. It is always important to have a shield during the run so that you can absorb more damage without dying. The Riot Shield is a fine substitute, albeit weaker, when the Beamshield II is unavailable. Try to upgrade from the Targe Shield if possible, as it is weak, but it's better than nothing. 

•Booster. See above. 

•Scanner- Hiroto Ultrascan. Although the scanner is dismounted for the majority of the run, there are some instances where the game requires use of the scanner, as well as the duel with Erkkt and the Midorian convoy, where the scanner is optional, but is faster to use it in the long run because of the amount of enemies you are required to kill. The Hiroto Ultrascan is the best scanner in the game. It is extremely fast, and has the added bonus of marking A-class asteroids on the HUD, which is handy for mining the Void Crystals. Any scanner works fine and doesn't lose too much time in the speedrun, except the Telta Quickscan. If possible upgrade from the Telta Quickscan to any other scanner. 

•Tractor Beam- AB3 Kingfisher. The tractor beam is only used for one mission, the one on Sahi where it is necessary to pick up alien remains. Any tractor beam works fine, the AB3 Kingfisher is simply the fastest. 

•Khador Drive. Always make sure that you have an equipment slot for the Khador Drive once you are able to make it. Which brings us to our next subject: 

**6. Ships** 
Having a good ship is important. It's how you get around! The most important things to think about when buying a ship are the cargo hold space, and the number of equipment slots. I recommend the Furious, Groza, Teneta, or Hera as solid ships that have both a good amount of cargo space and a good number of equipment slots. These four ships will get you through the run every time. Ideally, you want a ship with at least 60 tons of cargo space, but preferably more, so that your ship can carry the 50 tons of Void Crystals, plus whatever other items you may have unequipped at the time.

Valkyrie DLC speedrunning guide

**Note before the run start:**
It is highly recommended to preemptively make a save for Valkyrie runs, which would have Razor 6 and 3+ energy cells in the store to not grind for this RNG during attempts.

**Intro**

• Unequip everything but the scanner
• Sell Nirai charged pulse
• Buy 3 energy cells
• Sell Khador Drive, swipe to ships and touch one like you would do during duping
• Switch to Ship Tab and equip Khador Drive back
• Go back to shop and buy Razor 6
• Set destination to Kanado in the map
• When exiting the station, don't do anything and wait for the message to come in
• After the message fastforward Khador drive via asteroid field destination.

**Swiping tutorial before K'suuk theft mission**

There are three types of swiping used in the run distinguished by the swing made by the ship after a swipe.
• ***Full swing*** is allowing the ship to fully restore its trajectory after the swipe
• ***Half-swing*** is swiping again when the ship is near restoring its trajectory (about a second after the initial swing). Can be distinguished by the ship restoring its center position on the screen perpendicular to the lower border.
• ***Spam swipe*** is, as the name suggests, swiping without pausing and rhythm, one right after another.
Said techniques will later be referred in the guide by the names mentioned above

** K'suuk theft**

• Upon exiting B'akkram stop the engine, set destination to asteroid field and fast forward until you're unable to
• Afterwards immediately turn to Makke S'ik and travel to it
• First Jumpgate
Fastforward, 8 spam swipes then half-swings until reaching jumpgate
• Second Jumpgate
7 spam swipes, half-swings until jumpgate
• Third Jumpgate
Half-swings until jumpgate
• Kanado 
Fastforward, 4 spam swipes, fastforward

*(Note: all swipes must be made to the right)*

**After the theft**

• After dialogue with Tenner reload savefile, enter shop and sell K'suuk for the cheapest ship available
• Unequip everything
• Exit hangar, skip dialogue with Tenner, enter hangar again and sell all Berger Flaks
• Mount all the equipment
• Travel to Zepar
Note: on Zepar you don't need more than 52 energy cells for the rest of the run, if you get more, just buy 52, if you get less, keep the amount you're lacking in mind
• Sell quickscan and buy energy cells, travel to Valkyrie
• You can squeeze 6 spam swipes during Maxwell's dialogue when approaching Valkyrie

**Turret calibration**

• Highly recommended to full stop and adjust the turret's aim to ease the process and not let the pirates get past you and fly either too far away or outside your turret's effective zone (basically, "below" you). 
• On the last pirate when the turret fully picks up the target, start turning towards Valkyrie and pre-scan it before the escort commander's message

**Preparations for freighters and the entire rest of the run**

• Autocomplete and equip Liberators (10 is enough)
• Check the store for EMP GL DX and buy 3-4 if there are, otherwise keep the need for them in mind. 
Stores which are convenient to check for them later on in the run are: Var Destro, Kothar, Valkyrie (before Scavac mission with Tenner), Inaru Oni
• Travel to Quineros (pay the pirates off)
• Buy Hiroto Ultrascan (if available), Repair Bot Ketar II, Polytron, Octopus
• Mount everything but Octopus
• Travel to Var Destro
• Buy Icarus blueprint
• Autocomplete 3 Icaruses, unequip one and dupe it
• Return to shop, spawn in the dupe, buy it and equip
• Unequip the scanner

**Freighters**

Each of the three freighters follows roughly the same scheme of execution:
• Upon arrival, set the destination to the marker and travel to reach the distance of roughly 4km between you and the freighter (sweetspot between Icarus' effective range and the guards not spotting you and thus not initiating dialogue, which otherwise would break the fastforward)
• Start shooting and fastforwarding
• After roughly 1.5s of fastforwarding, stop it and set the destination to the next freighter (or in the case of the last one — to Valkyrie)
• Continue fastforwarding until the dialogue plays (which should ideally start playing when the Khador Drive is charged and the camera pan already started playing out)

**Void Essence**

• Unequip Ketar, equip Octopus and the scanner
• Immediately upon exiting Valkyrie, travel to Void space, you're going to receive Carla's message there
• Boost to asteroid field and start shooting the asteroids in hopes for the Essence to drop (Liberator use seems to not add much but is not discouraged)
Note: if you have Hiroto Ultrascan equipped you will see if you got Void essence before it is dragged into your cargo hold, so you can start the Khador drive earlier. Don't start too early though, because cargo hold takes a very tiny period of time to register the cargo dragged in, so if the animation of Khador Drive jump starts too early, it won't be registered and you'll lose your Essence.

**Khador**

• On Kothar unequip Octopus and mount Ketar
• Upon arrival to Coromesk immediately activate booster and start shooting, when red dots appear shoot Liberator and detonate, after that immediately turn to Nosdron
• Upon arrival to Nosdron just scan Khador and let the cutscene play out
• Activate booster; when in range of ~7km from Khador launch Liberator and detonate upon reaching the escort.
*Notes:* 
• Be careful not to kill Khador, thus steer the Liberator at the maximum distance away from him possible. 
• Killing all the pirates is not necessary in both fights. On Coromesk you need to dispatch ~3 to trigger the dialogue window. On Nosdron you can leave 1 or 2 alive; the dialogue from pirates saying they're bailing will play out regardless of whether there are any left alive.

**Scavac with Tenner**

• Upon arriving immediately boost and fastforward  until dialogue triggers, immediately boost again when it becomes available
• Dispatch 2-3 pirates with Icarus
• After the cutscene of Tenner flying in, more spawn: dispatch them; Liberator helps with speeding up the process — when targeting one pirate with Icarus, seek a group with Libearator if possible.

** Disruptor and Trot Lykkt**

• When exiting Inaru Oni, immediately turn to Lopat: this will both scan Trot Lykkt and initiate the cutscene and pre-scan the planet.
• Upon arriving to Lopat immediately start shooting, boost and aim at Trot Lykkt to kill him before the cutscene starts.

Note: it's absolutely ***necessary*** to unequip Liberators and mount GL DX on Inaru Oni either before or after dispatching Trot Lykkt

**Freighters 2.0**

• Upon arriving to Valkyrie, stop your engine, set destination to Valkyrie station and fastforward until the dialogue window appears.
• Afterwards set the destination to Teres in Khador drive and travel
• Immediately boost, set destination to Teres Station and fastforward until the dialogue from Keith
• Unlock destination and do double half-swings  towards the convoy (adjust your trajectory manually between them) until triggering the first pirate spawn, dispatch them (no liberator needed)
• Boost, when ~3.5 km away from the convoy launch 2 GL DX
• While more dialogue is playing out, position your roughly in the middle of the convoy formation for the optimal position for the fight and stop your engine
• Liberator not required for the 2nd group of pirates as well (small group and they're coming from different directions)

**Finale**
• Buy Cronos, unequip DX, equip Liberator (in that exact order)
• After the cutscene of Vaklyrie jumping activate Khador drive and immediately steer upwards and boost to avoid any unnecessary damage 
• In void space don't enter Khador drive menu until the voiceline from Keith starts
• Upon arriving to Kothar immediately boost, watch cutscene, launch Liberator into the group of pirates and dispatch as many of them as you can with it. Kill off the remains with Icarus.
• When reaching the effective distance of Icarus from Valkyrie, aim at the generators on the lower part of it; while shooting them, launch Liberator to one of the "wings" to destroy two turrets and a generator simultaneously (aim to the spot inside the station with equal distance from all three), then switch your aim to the turrets of the lower part and dispatch the red dots on the second wing. After that destroy the turrets on the upper part either with Icarus or Liberator.
