How do i unlock the boxes for having things like lasagne lover in n' stuff? I couldn't figure it out

I'm assuming this means the boosts. The number of boosts you can have at once is based on what hat you have. Gold hats let you carry 3 or 4. The boosts themselves are gotten with coins, which are best gotten from time trials.

ah ok thank you! I didn't understand that there were different tiers of items. I will hopefully soon start running this wonderful amazing perfect not at all garbage game
