The fade-to-black transitions become more or less instant at around 10000 cycles on DOSBox.

Glitches

Journal Warp Glitch: Use the journal in the inventory to go the menu. Load game. Double click on an exit to warp there directly. Also skips cutscenes that are supposed to start on the screen transition. Can lead to softlocks in a few places.
F1 Skip Glitch: Press F1 to open the menu on the exact moment a cutscene begins and it will be skipped. Leads to crashes in a few cases.
Textless Glitched State: Hold Esc to exit a conversation and you will be in a state where no text appears. Certain cutscenes are significantly shorter with this.
