When Dream was exposed, I came to the site out of curiosity and ended up creating an account, I didn't use it for years, then I logged back in and started speedrunning.
i think i found it from @Summoningsalt's videos or from a video by someone else that was inspired by his videos about the wr progression of 200cc items in mk8dx
I found a leaderboard specifically for an old PlayStation game called SSX which I thought I was quite good at as a child, like lots of older leaderboards and forums it was attached to a larger community but it all appears to have declined https://merqurycity.com/ssxpages/mainmenu.html
Because it felt quiet I looked for another leaderboard and discovered there was one on sr.c, it was even less populated but I liked the country flags appearing next to everyone's name, and a quick search revealed lots of games I'd enjoyed as a child or more recently, and that was that.
My boy Pac created the website at the end of 2013, and over the course of 2014 a lot of series communities migrated off of whatever spreadsheets they were using to track leaderboards and set up shop here, I was in that cohort.
I found this site by my brother, actually he's speedrunning Hello Neighbor, so he uses it to see the leaderboard. If you wanna find his profile, the name is mawkizushi.
I always loved watching speedrunning vidoes, then one day I googled, dark souls speedrun world record and it popped up I believe, I might be remembering wrong tho
