I couldn't find any discussion about this topic so here is a new thread.
As you know, 101% uses warp glitch twice which helps to skip gem cups almost completely. There was a brief discussion in Discord about splitting the category and as I remember people agreed on it.
What do you think about this?
Though I'm not against 101% Warpless, it could just be misc/category extensions if people genuinely want to run it and feel competitive, but from experience I didn't find Warpless all that engaging. It doesn't add anything new to the run and instead forces you to do the same things again and again. Hence why I personally wouldn't be that interested in having it as a thing nor would I run it.
The tricks/glitches aren't skill based in any way so there's no boundary stopping anyone from doing them, not sure what argument there is to support Warpless as a worthwhile category.
Yeah, I agree that it's repetitive and it might be a good idea to put it to misc category if runners don't want it to be split category along 101%. For me warpless 101 would be a test of consistency and I would enjoy it.
Reminder that a category doesn't only exist if there is a leaderboard for it. You can run Warpless on your own if you like. I highly doubt you would get much competition at all, especially considering how many people did 101% runs in general throughout this entire last decade or so, so not splitting categories is probably not the factor breaking its neck. Just my take on it though.
Good points. There hasn't been much competition on that category. I would honestly have it in misc since those categories are kinda for extra challenges like max% anyway.
I also totally get why it wouldn't be the most competitive category out there, but neither is max% and it's still a thing. Definitely agree with possibly making it a misc category.
So, here is my take.
Enough people would run 101% Warpless, we can confirm that because this has always been a topic ever since the battle mode glitch was discovered all those years ago.
Im not sure which one out of glitched 101% or warpless 101% would be misc, but i do feel thats a been a long time coming and almost inevitable that we make this a category, simply for the people that want it.
My above statement is as unbiased as I could make it, putting the community first. Now time for my very biased opinion.

Personally, I've got my video titled as 101% No WW, just because it's worth it to me to clarify that distinction. I'm happy to compare to runs that use the warp, so my opinion would be to have a variable rather than a subcategory. I can understand why a subcategory makes sense, though.
Oh yeah, I remember there being a talk about using a variable. I have no problems with that at all. Having an all-new category for warpless is something I wouldn't mind too much if people are genuinely for it. But if one of the two categories had to be marked as misc, it should definitely be the warpless one.
I support the idea of having a 101 Warpless category (as a subcategory). Category extension is also cool I guess. Just let it exist, so people can compete. Doesn't hurt to have it... I also wanna do runs of it at some point (:
So I guess the only thing left to do before implementing 101% Warpless is to write rules for it.

I'm also suggesting that we do a split category like other main categories have. Like Any%/Any% Warpless.
