This is a guide based on my current WR route for Night Manor Cherry, reference video here:

Tricks & Terms

  • Text mash - Often throughout the run, you will have to mash text. Text often comes in the form of single text boxes, meaning it’s mashed through with 2 A presses, one to advance the text and one to clear the text box. Notable exceptions are the very first text box and the grandfather clock, which have 2 text boxes and require additional A presses. Text appears every time you enter a room for the first time and every time you pick up an item. Text mashing is frame perfect and it is expected that you will bleed frames over the course of the run to mashing text, but try to learn the timing as well as possible.
    • Note: If you enter a room for the first time while scared, you will not receive the text box for that room, but you will receive it next time you enter the room. This appears in the Gold Disk route in the garage.
  • Noise Chaining - When you trigger a noisy event, the game starts a timer for 2.5 seconds until the killer spawns in (6.5 seconds if you get lost in the hedge maze). This timer is paused during screen transitions and while holding an item (as if you were going to use it). This can be abused to chain together noisy events and reduce the total number of killer spawns.
  • Resetting - Resetting has multiple functions in the run, it warps you back to the starting room and it resets the killer’s stun counter. The killer can only be stunned 3 times in a given play session before he starts deflecting hits. Resets are routed in to abuse this as much as possible. This is done in the pause menu by hitting “Reset Game”
  • Hitboxes - Every interactable in the game has a hitbox and their sizes are not standard. There will be some level of memorization for knowing the size of certain hitboxes. You typically want to click on the edge of any given hitbox as any time spent moving your cursor further into a hitbox is wasted time. Here are some notably bad hitboxes to keep in mind, along with their sprite 
    • Duct Tape (Garage) - Small and in a spot that is difficult to buffer an input to reach.
    • Emerald (Fountain) - Smallest hitbox in the game, doesn’t seem to properly overlap the sparkle sprite
    • Matches (Living Room) - Small, aggravating
    • Cigar (Balcony) - Small, aggravating

The Route

Up to First Reset (Drain Cleaner)

This is one of the toughest splits in the game. There are a lot of items to juggle and some are quite tricky to pick up, making this category quite reset heavy for WR attempts. When starting out, don’t get too worked up learning the setups for every item pickup, just get through it.

  • Starting Room
    • Grab the Bowl THEN Spoon
      • This order is very important for the end of the run, it saves a lot of time when making the fungicide
      • Buffer right after the text mash, then shift to down right to get the Bowl
    • Use Spoon on vent to get Bobby Pin and Note
    • Use Bobby Pin on door
  • Hallway -> Bedroom
    • Grab Hook from wardrobe
      • This is 4 A presses, 2 to open the wardrobe and 2 to grab the item
  • Hallway -> Living Room -> Stairway -> Dining Room -> Kitchen
    • Interact with killer
      • You can buffer a left input and click his feet
    • Stun with Hook, retreat to garage
  • Garage
    • Grab Duct Tape
      • This is one of the toughest items in the game to grab quickly. Your cursor can only move in 8 directions so you have to buffer a left input on entering the garage then shift to up left shortly after the cursor begins to move, then time your A press
    • Grab Oil
    • Open toolbox for Crowbar and Gasoline
    • Grab Flashlight
      • It may seem strange to grab the flashlight last, but this is so the batteries and flashlight both end up on the same menu page
  • Kitchen
    • Buffer an A press to grab Drain Cleaner
    • Reset the game
      • This reset just saves a half second over backtracking

Triple Noise Chain

In this section you’re going to have to chain 3 noisy events in a row and missing any step of this will likely kill your run. This is a difficult section but once you’re through this you can breathe a sigh of relief, the rest of the run isn’t so bad.

  • Start room -> Hallway -> Bathroom
    • Use Drain Cleaner on sink
    • Grab Tweezers from mirror
    • Use Tweezers on sink to get Silver Key
  • Hallway -> Bedroom
    • Use Silver Key on jewelry box to get Brass Key
    • Grab Batteries from dresser
    • Put Batteries in Flashlight
  • Hallway -> Living Room
    • Grab Coins from the couch
  • Stairway
    • Use Flashlight to go up to billiards room
  • Billiards Room
    • Grab Pool Cue
    • Insert Coins into the jukebox, LEAVE the Sheet Music on the floor
      • This is the start of the main Noise Chain in the run. You have to act quickly from here, if the killer spawns it will be difficult to recover the run.
      • The Noise Chain starts once you advance the text box from the jukebox (2 A presses)
    • QUICKLY exit to Stairway
  • Stairway
    • Buffer a down input to grab the Brass Key as quickly as possible
      • Once you have the key in your hand, the killer’s timer is paused, but it unpauses when you activate the clock
    • Use the Brass Key on the grandfather clock, LEAVE the Gear on the ground
    • QUICKLY exit to Dining Room
  • Dining Room
    • Use the Crowbaron the china cabinet and grab the Ornate Egg
      • Once you have the Crowbar in your hand, the killer’s timer is paused, but it unpauses when you smash the glass
    • QUICKLY exit to Kitchen
  • Kitchen
    • Buffer a left input (and move the cursor slightly up) to grab the Knife
    • The killer will spawn! Use the Crowbar to stun him and retreat to the pool

Up to 2nd Reset (Glasses)

In this section we’re working our way to the 2nd floor. Shed, Study and Balcony are some of the more difficult rooms in the run, but overall this split is fairly chill.

  • Pool
    • Scroll the menu up and use the Duct Tape on the Hook to make the Taped Hook
    • Combine the Taped Hook with the Pool Cue(select the hook and scroll up to pg. 1) to make the Hooked Cue
    • Use the Hooked Cue on the corpse in the pool and grab the Copper Key
  • Maze Entrance -> Backyard
    • Buffer a down input as you load into Backyard and grab the Copper Key
    • Enter the Shed
  • Shed
    • Grab the Hedge Trimmersand Screwdriverin that order
      • This saves some time later in Greenhouse
    • Scroll down to pg. 2, use the Ornate Egg on the vise to get the Gold Key
    • Use the Knife on the bottom right sack to get the Brass Key
  • Backyard -> Grave -> Greenhouse
    • Scroll up to pg. 1, use the Hedge Trimmers on the door, then the chest
    • Grab the Hacksaw
    • Exit to Living Room
  • Living Room -> Hallway -> Bathroom
    • Open the shower curtain and enter the corpse screen
    • Use the Hacksawon the corpse’s hand to get the Ring
  • Hallway -> Living Room -> Stairway
    • Grab the Gear
  • Billiards Room
    • Grab the Sheet Music
    • Scroll up to pg. 2, use the Gold Key to enter the Master Bedroom
  • Master Bedroom
    • Take the painting down
    • Enter the Balcony
  • Balcony
    • Grab the Cigar
    • Scroll to pg. 3, use the Hacksawon the rope
    • Lower the ladder
  • Master Bedroom -> Study
    • Turn on the computer
    • Grab the Magnifying Glass
    • Grab the Tea Tree Oil
    • Open the bookcase and enter Master Bathroom
  • Master Bathroom
    • Grab the Peroxide from under the sink
    • Exit to Upstairs Hallway
      • Requires 3 A presses as you are unblocking this door
  • Upstairs Hallway -> Playroom
    • Grab the Doll
  • Upstairs Hallway -> Kid’s Bedroom
    • Scroll up to pg. 2, use the Knifeon the Doll to get the Steel Key
    • Scroll up to pg. 3, use the Magnifying Glass on the dollhouse to get the Password
      • This brings your menu back to pg. 4 where it needs to be
    • Use the Steel Keyon the music box to get the Glasses
    • Reset the game
      • This prevents the killer from spawning and allows us to skip the music box song. Since the item is given immediately, there’s no need to listen to the song like we did with the jukebox

Up to 3rd Reset (Wire)

This is probably the easiest split in the run, nothing too difficult.

  • Starting Room -> Balcony -> Master Bedroom -> Study
    • Use the Password on the PC
    • Enter the PC and click on the Trash, then the Fungicide Recipe
      • Even though this isn’t an item, it is required. You cannot craft the Fungicide without knowing the recipe.
    • Exit the PC, then exit to Master Bathroom
  • Master Bathroom
    • Scroll up to pg. 2 and use the Crowbar on the mirror
      • This is noise and starts the killer’s timer, so move quickly!
    • Switch to look mode and click the Safe Code, then switch back to interact mode
    • Quickly exit to Study
  • Study
    • Buffer a down left input, you will likely not reach the scroll buttons before the killer spawns
    • Scroll up to pg. 2, use the Crowbar to stun the killer, and retreat to the Master Bedroom
  • Master Bedroom
    • Scroll down to pg. 4, use the Safe Code on the safe to get the Diamond
    • Move the chair and exit to Upstairs Hallway
  • Upstairs Hallway -> Playroom
    • Use the Glasses on the wall to get the Directions
  • Upstairs Hallway -> Attic
    • Scroll up to pg. 3, use the Brass Key on the chest and grab the Crossbow
    • Use the Sheet Music on the piano to get the Wire
      • This requires 3 A presses as it’s one interaction to place the Sheet Music and another to play the piano
    • Reset the game
      • Much like the music box, this prevents a killer spawn and skips a song

Final Stretch

We now have just about everything we need from the house, it’s time to handle the outside. We have to round up the last 3 gems and kill the killer. There is a lot of somewhat complex menuing in the Cellar, but if you’re on good pace then you should feel good about your time. There’s nothing at this point that should end your run.

  • Starting Room -> Hallway -> Living Room
    • Scroll up to pg. 2, use the Gasoline on the fireplace
    • Grab the Matches
    • Use the Matches on the fireplace and pick up the Ruby
      • This is 4 A presses, 2 for the text box to light the fire, 2 to pick up the Ruby
    • Exit to Greenhouse
  • Greenhouse -> Grave
    • Use the Knife on the body bag and pick up the Topaz
    • Exit to Fountain
  • Fountain
    • Scroll down to pg. 3, use the Ringon the plaque
    • Pick up the Emerald
      • This is by far the worst hitbox in the game. Take your time with it.
  • Grave -> Backyard -> Maze Entrance
    • Place the Emerald in the first statue
    • Scroll up to pg. 2, place the Ruby in the second statue
    • Scroll down to pg. 4, place the Diamond in the fourth statue
    • Place the Topaz in the third statue
    • Enter the maze
  • Maze
    • Buffer an A press to choose the entrance in front of you
      • This will set off a longer timer for the killer to spawn, but we’re going to use most of that timer. Move fast!
    • Use the Directions on the right entrance
  • Heart of the Maze
    • Grab the Bolt
    • Select the Bolt, scroll down to pg. 3 and use it on the Crossbow to load it
    • Exit the maze
  • Maze Entrance -> Backyard
    • Move your cursor towards the crossbow and let the killer spawn
      • Don’t select the crossbow as this will pause the killer’s timer, just hover it
    • Shoot the killer, collect the Iron Key
    • Enter the Cellar
  • Cellar
    • Scroll up to pg. 1, use the Screwdriver on the gearbox
    • Use the Oil on the lever
    • Scroll down to pg. 3, use the Gear on the gearbox
    • Use the Wire to repair the wiring
    • Pull the lever and enter the Vault
  • Vault
    • Scroll up to pg. 2 and select the Cigar
    • Scroll up to pg. 1 and use the Cigar on the Bowl
    • Scroll down to pg. 4, select the Tea Tree Oil, scroll up to pg. 1, use it on the Bowl
    • Scroll down to pg. 4, select the Peroxide, scroll up to pg. 1, use it on the Bowl
    • Use the Fungicide on the creature
    • Time!
