LEVEL 1: Wrastor
Wavedash towards center stage. Shine > shorthop > dair > fastfall> upstrong.
LEVEL 2: Clairen + Ranno
Drop through the platform and dash left. Shine > dair on Clairen, Ranno should run towards you. Shine > dair again, hitting both Clairen and Ranno this time. Finish with charged upstrong or dash right to cross them up and finish with a charged fstrong. My best times in level 2 have involved a lot of lucky cooperation from Forsburn. Be prepared to improvise.
LEVEL 3: Kragg
Press nothing, let Kragg run towards you. He will briefly pause after reaching center stage . When he stops, wavedash forward to cross him up and shine > dair > fstrong left.
LEVEL 4: Target Test -
This is gonna be a whole thing once we can practice without going through arcade mode. For now I’ll leave the demonstration of the current route, which is an amalgamation of strats and optimizations from InspiredShadow, Rai7, and myself.
LEVEL 5: Fleet
Wavedash twice towards center stage. Shine > dair > fastfall > shine > dair > fastfall> pivot upstrong. The pivot is important, fleet really likes trying to get behind you. Alternatively, you can drift backwards during the shine/dair loop.
LEVEL 6: Maypul Team
Start with an Fstrong right after “GO” starts to disappear, position yourself ⅓ of the stage from the left ledge and wait for the respawn. Charge upstrong and release to catch Maypuls 4,5,6. Position yourself ⅓ of the stage from the right ledge and charge upstrong again. Release to catch Maypuls 7,8,9. Upstrong to catch Maypul 10.
LEVEL 7: Forsburn
Wavedash twice towards center stage. Shine/dair loop to 50-60%. Finish with an uncharged upstrong at >60% and a charged upstrong if he's below 60%.
LEVEL 8: Orcane
Shine/dair loop to build percent, fully charged upstrong will kill at like 50%+
FINAL TIME : 46.14
Notes:
- The idea behind these strategies is to prioritize consistency over top speed.
- The bots in Rivals 2 are really easy to manipulate. If you stand still, they will run at you; if you run at them, they will shield. Wavedashing lets you approach the bots without triggering a reflex.
- The bots seems less likely to tech if you aren't moving the analogue stick but this needs more testing
- In standard fights it’s generally best to build damage as quickly as possible so you can finish with a charged strong attack (lots of stages with low ceilings, so mostly upstrong).
- I will keep the guide updated as new strategies are discovered and adopted.
- Strategies will be attributed to their respective discoverers unless requested otherwise
Hey runners! We at the mod team are happy to announce the launch of the Rivals of Aether II Speedrunning Discord server! Hopefully this will help bridge the gaps in the community and provide a centralized platform for discussing strategies, sharing pb's, and getting insights and feedback from yo
