How To Perform the Game's Different Strategies & Glitches

# **Magnet Jumping**

Magnet Jumping is a glitch that allows you to jump twice your normal height by dropping a magnet on the same frame that you jump. To perform this glitch, pick up a magnet, hold the drop button, and then let go of the drop button and press the spacebar at the same time.

# **Pipe Jumping**

Pipe Jumping is an exploit you can perform when coming out of the pipe at the start of any level. Note that this only works when you first enter a level from either the title screen or the level before it, it won’t work upon retrying a level. To perform this exploit, jump half a second after the level name is first visible on screen.

# Chain Jumping

Chain Jumping is a glitch that allows you to perform a higher jump off of the chains that pull you up. To perform this glitch, jump just before grabbing the chain. If done successfully your jump off the chain will be extra high.

# **One-Way Jumping**

One-Way Jumping is an exploit based on the fact that one way platforms have a hitbox that is relatively large vertically. This exploit allows you to jump on one way platforms that you are not fully on top of. It is especially useful when paired with a Magnet or Pipe Jump. To perform this exploit jump so that your wheel is touching the top black bar of the one-way platform and then press jump again.

# **Magnet Threading**

Magnet threading is an exploit where you pick up a magnet as late as possible allowing you to carry it under otherwise impossible gaps. To perform this exploit place a magnet at the entrance to a gap that you are too tall to fit in while carrying the magnet, get a running start towards the gap and then grab the magnet right before it goes out of your pickup range.

# **Jump Throwing**

Jump throwing is a glitch that allows you to jump while you are getting ready to throw a magnet. To perform this glitch, jump and start aiming your magnet at the same time, then you can throw the magnet at the top of your jump to cheese some levels.

# **Slide Throwing**

Slide throwing is an exploit where you can throw a magnet after sliding off an edge. To perform this exploit, run towards the ledge while carrying a throwable magnet and then enter aim mode right when you get to the edge, you will then slide off the edge but still be in throw mode.

# **Field Blocking**

Field blocking is an exploit that allows you to hold a magnet in a magnetic field without getting attracted by it. To perform this exploit, run towards the magnetic field while holding a throwable magnet, then right before touching the field enter aim mode. You should slide a bit into the field but not get pulled by it.

# **Field Jumping**

Field jumping is the act of jumping right as you enter a magnetic field carrying a magnet to give you more momentum when going up the field. It can be used anywhere to move upwards a little faster and can also be used to gain the necessary momentum to make certain jumps.

# **Momentum**

Momentum is an important concept in Mind Over Magnet. This includes your own momentum (as mentioned in Field Jumping and Magnet Threading) but also the momentum of other objects like magnetic blocks. For example in some levels you can use the momentum of magnetic blocks to keep them in the air longer, letting you squeeze underneath them.

# **Scroll Wheel Interact**

Did you know your interact key (E by default) can be bound to the scroll wheel? This allows you to easily send an input every frame. Trying to do this with any other key would not be possible as you would need one key where the key is up and one where it is down to register a press. This doesn’t have a lot of useful interactions but it does make it easy to grab the exit pipes on the first frames possible.

# **Simple Backgrounds**

Simple backgrounds is a setting you can turn on in Options>Accessibility. It turns the background into a grid which can be used visually to line yourself up for certain setups.

# **Late Interactions**

In speedrunning Mind Over Magnet it is useful to get a feel for the range that you can interact with something as you run by it as it is the basis for many skips. I personally like to press interact right before the back of Uni passes by the object I’m trying to interact with.
