Opened up this Thread to discuss the Categories for The Game.
Whether that's adding a new listings for a particular type of Speedrun Category, Adjusting The Rules to an existing one, or any other types of concerns, it will be handled here! =D
Also take note of The Latest News Post The OFFICIAL Release Date is April 24th 2025 (More or Less because of Time Zones) and SNK has requested for Arcade & EOST Mode a Spoiler Restraint Embargo Period Until April 24, 2025 at 11:59 PM (PDT) / April 25, 2025 at 2:59 AM (EDT)!
During Early-Access We'll be open for Suggestions of Potential Categories and Rules while waiting for The OFFICIAL Release Date to happen later in The Week before accepting Runs so as to prevent Runner's Uploads from potentially being flagged as "Spoilers" until The Restraints are lifted on The Times listed above.
Thank you for understanding! :)
I'd like to propose using a video frame timer like https://vidtimer.com/ to time the runs like in KOF XV to remove load times for modes without an in-game timer.
Every single round can be measured by start from the frame where the timer displays 69 and ends when the text K.O appears.
@corlist We'll take note of that as a possibility for the future but as of right now We're doing pretty easy / straight forward Time Measurements with having Optional Toggles for Standard IGT & RTA.
The Game is BRAND NEW & introducing Extra Steps to do timing at launch might alienate New Runners from participating a bit.
It should also be noted that some of The Modes outright give The Player a Time at the end too so that's also factored in.
@JakatoXtra I understand the risk of alienating. So with that in mind, runners can go ahead and submit the RTA time and mods can then provide the manual IGT afterwards. (I've been doing all of the manual IGTs for KOF XV anyways lol)
Okay, I understand using the in game clock timer. One good thing about this is that it makes using Hidden Gears a tactical decision since it pauses the timer. However, the bad thing about this is that the timer only ticks down once every 1.5 seconds and might result in close runs having the same times.
is Any% mode useless in this game in particular? cause the 3 more crucial setups (1 fight only, max damage and lowest difficulty) cannot be configured, just the timer which is irrelevant, and the difficulty alone of course, that already have their categories. So, i miss something more that adds value to that category?
The Game is still "Active" / being worked on so there's a chance MORE Settings will be added over time, that and there's still the possibility of someone winning via time out. At the moment it's more or less a place holder since we are still in that grace period of the game getting updated to in include more features so it is still around should someone would have wanted to mess with Settings that are available to edit since they can still play a slight factor.
Event Running Until: 8:45 PDT / 11:45PM EDT Sunday June 22nd 2025
