Categories are created by the moderators of a game who have permission to modify the leaderboards. This forum is specifically for speedrunning, so a fewest turns category would not fit and would be banned by the sitewide rules.

— Patch Notes! —

NEW CONTENT

  • Daily Puzzle - Every day there will be a unique bite-sized challenge with crazy new rules to change up the game (e.g. “No gravity!” “Poison is permanent!” “Defeat the room in two turns or die!”). If you can defeat the day’s challenge, you’ll earn a Golden Puzzle Piece.
  • Weekly Challenge Run - Each week, there will be a new 45-floor dungeon with a whole fresh set of twisted rules. All players will face the exact same dungeon for a true head-to-head competition on the leaderboards. Just trying out the Weekly Run will earn you a Golden Puzzle Piece and put your score on the new leaderboard for that week. You’ll earn more Golden Puzzle Pieces if you can claim victory and survive to the bottom before the end of the week!
  • Golden Puzzles - Each Golden Puzzle Piece earned from playing the new modes will go towards completing a series of Golden Puzzles that unlock new relics and bonus properties for you to equip in Normal Runs.
  • Top Score Relics - There are 4 additional relics that can now be unlocked by achieving higher and higher gold scores during Normal Runs. If you can master these relics, they’ll help you push your gold score even higher.
  • New Enemy: The Mimic - Keep your eye on those treasure chests, ‘cause now they may be keeping their eyes on you! But if you can manage to defeat a mimic, you’ll get an even bigger gold reward than what you would have found in a less toothy treasure chest.
  • Seeded Runs - You can now enter a “seed” before your run. If anyone else enters the same seed, they’ll play the exact same dungeon with the same loot drops, enemy spawns, and everything else that’s usually randomized. ▪️ BALANCE
  • Spawn rate changes: Orc Greasepunks, Phase Spiders, Dark Gelly Cubes, and Dark Elf Conductors are slightly more common. All other Gelly Cubes and Dark Elf Illusionists are slightly less common. Chaos rooms have more enemy variety and more treasure chests than previously. Chaos rooms now also have more enemies than a normal room.
  • There are more large peg spots on many boards now. (More room for chests!)
  • The bottom gold piles are now worth more in Act 2 and even more in Act 3.
  • The treasure scarab now appropriately multiplies the gold values in the bottom gold piles when you complete a room.
  • The treasure scarab can now perch on all medium-sized gold pots.
  • Brilliance relic now burns WAY more of your mana every turn.
  • Luck relic now only doubles the center gold pile value (previously was triple). ▪️ POLISH
  • There is clearer feedback on content you unlock along the way (for those of you who haven’t unlocked these already): scarab, unstable potions, chaos rooms, and relics.
  • There is clearer feedback to show that the scarab is multiplying your gold score.
  • There is a countdown timer on the leaderboards showing when they will reset.
  • The relic menu now tracks which hero you've mastered a relic with, so you can try to master it again with each hero!
  • Properties that grant you bonus gold will now show a callout with the amount of gold when it's granted.

BUG FIXES

  • Getting your hero to a higher level than we thought possible no longer causes problems.
  • Fixed rare issue where the Trinket equip UI button seemed unresponsive to touch / mouse due to invisible blockers.
  • Ledger can finally properly play dialog variations when you succeed on a full normal runs (rather than always playing his "first time" version).
  • Hitting enemies inside the Wizard's bubbles now counts as a hit to open the cushion.
  • The Wizard's lightning can now more reliably reach pegs at the edge of the board if you're on the far side of the room from them.
  • Fixed mana sometimes getting overfilled by certain trinket effects.

— Update Info! — CAN I BE IN THE BETA? If you own a copy of Roundguard on Steam, great! You’re in. Read the next section.

If you have Apple Arcade on iPhone / iPad / Apple TV, type !applebeta into any channel where you can send messages. (Not this one.) I’ll reach out to you with more details within a few days.

If you have Roundguard on Switch / PS4 / Xbox One, I’m sorry, we won’t be doing a beta on those platforms. We are, however, planning to release the Treasure Hunter update (and all upcoming content updates) on the same day on all platforms, so rest assured, you don’t have long to wait!

HOW DO I JOIN? To join the beta branch on Steam:

  1. Right-click on the game in Steam and select Properties.
  2. Select the BETAS tab and enter the password supersecretbetabranch
  3. Select the beta branch from the dropdown.
  4. It should update right away! You will know you’re on the beta build if you see “ver 1.1.0” in the lower right on the Roundguard title screen.

To get the beta role here in Discord, go to the #assign-roles channel. I’ll ping the beta role once a week or so to let you know about any beta updates and hotfixes. ▪️ IS THIS GONNA DO WEIRD THINGS TO MY SAVES? When you launch the beta branch, we’ll automatically copy over your saves from the main branch so you can keep going with all your progress preserved. If you want to start fresh, then go ahead and start a new save slot. Note! Any progress you make in the beta branch will NOT be transferred back to the main branch. We plan to keep the beta branch open and fairly stable, so you should be okay staying in the beta branch forever from here on out. If you do end up wanting to move back to the main branch AND you want all your save progress from beta, then reach out and we’ll see what we can do, but no promises. Like we all learned in Back to the Future, warping saves into the past can have terrible consequences.

HOW DO I REPORT BUGS AND FEEDBACK? When playing the game, click the Report Issue button in the upper left corner of the screen to report a bug or piece of feedback. It’ll send your feedback along with a screenshot of where you are and a copy of your error logs straight to our inbox. This is definitely the most helpful way to report a bug.

You can also report issues here in Discord in the #beta-feedback channel. This is a good place to put feedback that you think other folks might want to comment on or to ask us questions if you’re unsure about whether something even is a bug or not. ▪️ HOW LONG WILL THE BETA GO? We’re expecting to release the Treasure Hunter update in a little over a month. Any feedback you give us in the next two weeks will be especially valuable. After that, we’ll have to start locking down the build for different platform cert reviews. That said, your feedback is always valuable to us. We’re a tiny team with reduced hours due to the pandemic, so we can’t act on every piece of feedback as quickly or as thoroughly as we’d like to. But we are listening and tracking your bugs and ideas, and we’ll be adding more to Roundguard in the future.

After we get the Treasure Hunter update out, we’re planning to keep the beta branch open. If you stay in the beta, you’ll be the first to get any hotfixes and any future content updates. Our goal is to keep the branch fairly stable, so you shouldn’t get hot messes from us, but you will be the first eyes on anything new, so expect a few bugs and missing polish.

CAN I STREAM OR SHARE THE BETA CONTENT? Yes please! Tell us about it in the #streams-and-such channel.

— Speedrunning! — As the beta will likely contain bugs, it will not be added to the speedrun.com leaderboards.

Hey this is my run! It's also super old (so is this post though, but I just now noticed it). Back then, there were only video requirements for runs less than 15 minutes. I did manage to get my time below 13 minutes and then I stopped and didn't feel like recording so I didn't submit it.

The rules require proof for sub 15 runs in the Nipple% category. Unfortunately, I did not record the run. But under the rules it should not have been rejected for this reason. Did I do something wrong, or do the rules need to be updated?

It is easy to tell whether or not the skip has been successful or not, I think the mods can determine whether or not the A press was from Toadette. In addition, Toadette is the only NPC you need to talk to in order to view the jump counter from beginning the game.

Requirements: Beat the game without jumping. Timing starts when "New Game" is pressed, and ends when you shoot out of the spark pylon in the escape sequence. Runs must talk to Toadette and verify that the jump counter is at zero. Runs under 2 hours require video proof.

There are A presses but the game counts as you not jumping.

Whenever I try the clip, the hat hits the wall and I don't clip through. What am I doing wrong?

I think what the OP is getting at is that the rules technically don't say you don't have to get the Multi Moons in the Mushroom Kingdom.
