I mean, y'all can't decide if PAL or emulation is the hill you want to die on for a start.
Well I seriously doubt any top runners are going to bother with emulators.
Adding more emulators just makes the boards more bloated than they are already and almost exclusively appeal to the type of semi-serious runners that jump from one category to the next never bothering to grind and get good.
As for creating "nothing out of nothing" you're the lad who hijacked a three week old thread, boy ;)
I've heard no reasons why there should be dedicated emulator leaderboards.
Adding a new category is normally reserved for reasons like there being a huge amount of interest in that particular category or because existing platforms aren't accessible or are too expensive for people (not everyone wants to drop decent sums on foreign hardware for example).
There are a huge number of existing leaderboards available providing a mix of interest and acccessibility. Adding N64 and DC emu would surely just encourage meme runners to chase a free WR.
You should git sum, yo
... just want to watch the world burn.
I heard you can't delete threads, yo?
Ok, run is back up now. Thanks Darazanjoll, vix and stevenmayte for expediting this action.
See it's still here.
RE2 mod mafia making it easy for Vix to steal my WR!
I think Vix had something to do with it. I didn't noticed it wasn't there until Vix was made a brown moderator!?!?!?
Why is my run no longer on the leaderboard?
'video does no longer exist'?
That's not true it's still there! Is this an attempt to silence me and my WR intentions?! This will not stand, sir!
I am incandescent with rage. My anger no knows bounds.
Reinstate me immediately or there will be....... trouble.
" I understand my existence is considerably inconvenient for you "
It's not just him, mate. If you could kindly now fuck up we'd all be grateful.
@FurryWulfz " Point being, if this is allowed under the "this affects no gameplay, it's just a random element un-related to the player or run", then there could be a point in the future where all other bits of RNG are discussed / asked to be ruled out with the same reasoning possibly. "
This sums it up perfectly for me.
Would you not concede it is a dangerous precedent to set?
Runners are not currently forced to reset the game when they get the Magnum, they simply choose to do so rather than running the Magnum route. We are not talking about a manipulation of the game's code to get around a game-breaking glitch, simply one to save people having to reset.
Some great points brought up so far, especially by Furry who covered one or two things I hadn't considered. I appreciate the frustration of getting the Magnum over and over (and it's already been covered that Mag% was created for this reason) but isn't changing the RNG of the game to give a preferable result a dangerous precedent to set?
I don't know why Hard mode was added, did anyone ask for it? Does anyone currently/recently run it?
Being as RE2 has 4 scenarios, whenever a sub category is added it is in multiples of 4, with this in mind I think sub categories should be kept to a minimum.
The leaderboard looks fairly tidy, I hope we don't go down the route of meme categories that will spoil that, rocket launcher % welfare record anyone?
I personally wouldn't mind seeing this added as a different category, I believe it would level the playing field enabling new (and even existing) runners to compete with each other more closely by removing a hurdle that some may struggle with.
Having said this, it should be acknowledged that door-skipping itself has become part of the run and is something that requires concentration and practise to perform correctly so my concern would be that we'd not only be making the game faster but making it easier too (one could say dumbing it down?) at the expense of in-game audio.
Changing registry values is not really an option the game provides, is it? As this requires ALL in-game sound to be disabled it is, unfortunately, a no-brainer that it should not be allowed as it would run contrary to current verification rules.
I didn't use this method personally but it sounds good and would consider it if I had problems in the future, say with another Windows version?
Good post and thanks.
HAPPY SPEED RUNNING.
