Although now it's weird since those levels wouldn't really have a One Combo run to make; but I'd rather be able to actually submit All Gaps on every level.

Is there any interest for having All Gap categories for the competition and secret levels? I was thinking about trying Skate Park or Burnside only to realize there isn't even a leaderboard for it.

Seeing what people have wrote above, I would agree that the current any% and an any% that allows ALL glitches could be a thing. We could even utilize the categories we already have. We have an any% and a any% that uses an unreliable glitch (lag%). If we repurpose lag% to "anything goes," then we can have a category that encompasses everything while still keeping the current leaderboards intact.

I personally don't see myself running IJ, but allowing it in a glitched category (that I remind you we already have) would be good. On top of that, we can do a thing where we have variables for each major glitch (similar to Antichamber). Then, you can easily see what glitches were used in the run.

I shouldn't have created that category without using the glitch. Honestly, it's a bad category and I'm sorry to everyone.

I personally think it should be allowed, but the actual % should be noted on each run. Other games do low% as, whoever has the lowest % is 1st. In event of a tie, faster runner is 1st. Realistically, we should do it that way as well, but honestly more input would be nice.

Mario and I spent a lot of time on routing 100% and not everything we came up with made it into a run. Unfortunately some stuff is too hard (atm). 100% can be sped up by utilizing death warps for sure. The hard part isn't not dying as much as avoiding other bells.

Something not on there: It should be noted that it is possible to use the triple jump method to do a double jump when you only have spider gloves but no jump boots. This is used in Extra Spicy 100%. Mario and I call it Extra Jump, but really it's just the same trick as triple jump but with only two jumps.

For any%, I think we're pretty close if not at fastest possible for now (until a useful clip for any% is found), though small optimizations are always being found. Though 100% could possibly use some quickening up. I might make a video about it sometime in the future if I find the time.

I think it has to do with the rising popularity in Discord in general. It might also have to do with who currently is running the game. Who knows :P

Another thing to note, if you load a save of any playthrough before getting to that point, it will reset back to that game state. You have to go through the ending twice without loading save as well.

I would say that igt should be suggested, but not forced. There is extra work in getting the timer to work, and not everyone uses a timer in the first place. However, I do support instituting the IGT for future runs using the method given, if you can give an example video showing it being used effectively.

One problem that I will bring up though is the "with saves" categories. If the game is not timed while paused, this removes menuing time which is a big part of those runs. This also might mess with any runs that include the Serious Room in them assuming that the console pauses the game as well (or people pausing before using the console to save time). For these categories, I suggest still having both ITG and RTA, but making RTA the main timing method.

I tried to solve this issue so long ago and you came through AntiGrav. When I'm not busy as all get out, I'll have to try it out. But if it is indeed working, we should change the layout of all categories to include both in-game and rta times. That way, we get both the legacy timings and the new timings. I might be up for retiming some old runs, but like I said, when I'm not super busy, and it'd still be hard because of some not-so-obvious loading screens.

There is a fix! So, I did some testing, and I believe the quicksave popup is what causes the glitch. To circumvent this issue, just hit the escape key before the first key prompt comes up. Instead of pausing, it will fix the glitch and continue like normal.

In my testing, I found that quicksaving in-between key prompts would reinstate the glitch, which could be fixed again by trying to pause the game.

well if anything, 22 endings cause it doesn't auto reset after the ending

or we could add an "All Dialogue" category which takes god knows how long :P

So, I was doing a 12 Endings w/saves run utilizing the quicksave feature (F6) and was having a wonderful time saving about a minute and a half until I got to the Apartment Ending.

I quicksaved right as the lights turned on for the phone and picked up the phone after it was done saving. Once I was in the apartment, the narrator did his speech as normal, but the prompts for keyboard presses did not show up. I was able to advance the dialog by smashing all the keys on my keyboard, but eventually even that did not work.

I then pressed escape, which brought up a key prompt instead of pausing. Hitting the prompted key made the appropriate noise, but did not advance the story. Hitting escape paused the game after that. Additionally, quicksaving and then loading did not advance the dialog either.

tl;dr: Quicksaving may mess up the Apartment Ending, effectively ruining any run that uses it before picking up the phone. More testing soon.

I mean, it really doesn't matter either way since I don't think anyone is planning on using the glitch, but I've been seeing how other games do categories and it makes more sense this way.

It's fine. This should be an ok category to add, but sometimes getting a larger community feedback is important.

I'll make a run here in a bit and add it to the category to give an example of what the run will be like.

I just said I didn't want to do anything without first consulting plumato. Love the enthusiasm, but when it comes to new categories and stuff, having a bigger discussion is important, especially with someone or multiple people who have been in the community much longer than either of us. I'll edit the rules accordingly since it's already made, but in the future please refrain from making new categories without first consulting the senior mod (in this case Plumato).
