That tutorial is outdated and uses an older version of SourceSplit. Nowadays we use 2838's fork of SourceSplit. If I recall the default settings should work fine. https://github.com/thisis2838/SourceSplit

No, you can not run the game with any sort of mod. If you want to play PvZ Widescreen, your best bet is to play on the Console version.

Yes, emulators such as Bluestacks are allowed. There are runs on the leaderboard such as ymblcza's old WR and my Any% run from 2019 that are played on Bluestacks.

As AntBlueR said, it is a category extension for PC, Console and DS. There is no category extension page for Mobile as it is not a popular enough version of the game to justify adding a new leaderboard.

Hi Florida,

The NG+ Glitch was discussed at length amongst the moderation team and we concluded that the best way forward for now was to split NG+ so it had a Glitch/Glitchless variable. There was also discussions of making it a Category Extension or outright banning it, but considering the Money Glitch exploit is allowed and the skip can only be used on one (1) level in the run and the exploit is exclusive to the Steam GOTY version, we figured this was the best way forward for now.

If you do not like the idea of running NG+ with the Glitch, you can always run Glitchless instead.

If more attention was given to NG+ as a category we may re-visit this exploit and its applications in the speedrun, but as very few players run this category in the first place it's not a priority for us right now.

Cheat% was a category several years ago but has since been removed and will likely not be returning.

This game does occasionally lag, particularly on the first level, Rainbows, Lady Gaga, Facebook, Blockbuster and Social Networks. If you pause and unpause the game it will get rid of the lag most of the time.

The other thing that can be used in Portal Combat is the Rake, though given that the normal strategy also doesn't use the Rake the Shopless category for Portal Combat should probably be closed as well. I'll go do that now.
