I was wondering if I could become a mod for MKWii. I've requested before and never really was given a definitive answer, but the moderation for the game is terrible. Runs are getting verified left and right that shouldn't be getting verified, leaving the community that aren't mods to backseat mod and let them know when they've verified a run they shouldn't have. Also, I won't go through with this without consulting other mods of the game (if I can get ahold of them), but the game really should be made with videos being mandatory and a switch to IGT for many reasons. I would've thought that @charlocharlie 's writeup as to why the switch was needed would've been enough to actually get this to happen, but it hasn't yet. If it's an issue of it being too much work, I'd be happy to assist in converting all of the runs to IGT. I also realize there are tons of runs without video, including many of mine, but I for one would gladly be for a switch to videos being mandatory. Response from a mod would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to kinda- sorta necro this post, but I just realized I was mentioned in the original post. Yeah my wii load times are ridiculous. I've calculated that on my old wii my 32 track skips balanced run would be second place if load times were equal. Just another tidbit I thought I'd add to try to help the cause to switch to IGT. I'm all for it.

At that point it’ll just be him not adding a category out of pride given this is the exact type of run category extensions is for, being a stupid meme but at least the category has a purpose. If the any% multiplayer run was such a meme it should’ve been on that leaderboard in the first place and not here.

I’ve just been checking back on this thread once in a while to check up on the convo. Why don’t you just add it to the category extensions and be done with it @Stache ? I don’t see why this big fucking debate is necessary about a 2 player any% category when it could’ve been solved by just putting it “2 Player Any% No A button” in the category extensions and everyone who wants to run it can.

@Exciton97 I could go on for about 3 paragraphs listing and describing all of the logic flaws in that argument, but it can basically be summed up by what I said earlier. You are trying to promote time trials being put on this site which is already on many a other site. Completely unnecessary.

Time trials has been promoted in the mario kart community for nearly 20 years now. There’s absolutely no need for it on this site.

@PresJPolk Ok, sure, even if they want to moderate games that way then fine. The issue is there’s many other games on the site just like this one consisting of the things you just described. For example Mario combat, which the only mario think about that game is the sprites much like this one. Other than that you just go around punching enemies. I understand that game causes less “searchbar confusion”, but like I said I feel like people should be able to figure that out on their own.

Mario odyssey is a generally more interesting speedgame. And yeah that’s it.

@Msbmteam I can’t even tell if you’re being sarcastic or not. Either way, I hope you realize twin galaxies isn’t the only high score website on the internet. Have you ever heard of cyberscore? That’s a website that you submit high scores to, not speedrun.com. As stated in the name, it’s a website for SPEEDRUNNING.

@Gyoo in that case fair enough. Like I said, it wasn’t so much of an issue of it getting rejected, rather the reason provided which didn’t cite any issue with the game itself.

So a little while ago I submitted a flash game called Mario mini golf. It’s a dumb game admittedly, but it actually has a lot of variables making it a good speedgame and my friend and I have a lot of fun doing runs of it. Then, the game got rejected. I understand that’s going to happen sometimes, so I wasn’t upset until I saw the reason for rejection. The reason provided was that it “doesn’t seem notable enough for the confusion it causes on the search bar”. So basically what this is telling me is that games are not being judged on whether or not they’re good speed games, oh no. It’s being judged as to whether or not it’s going to confuse us stupid idiots that are members of this site. God forbid we need to click on the game to be able to discern what game it is we’re about to play. Anyways, sorry, I couldn’t help but to get sarcastic. Definitely don’t need 3 stars. Just get a star on every cup in every CC and unlock all the fast staff ghosts on a new file.

You can edit your run to be correct yourself.

Those are called time trials and there's separate pages for those. If you're talking about quick runs or whatever they're called, seems questionable. Still basically just a time trial but with a little item RNG.
