Skating you can go as slow as needed but if you are too slow and you stop in front of an obstacle you are practically screwed, you can't get enough speed to jump over a thing. The timing is delayed because she has to crouch before jumping. There are these dips in the ground you need to slow down on because she can't jump over it and have enough to jump over the grass ahead of it, unless you are at the edge of the jump it could be possible. There is also a beach ball that is very random and it is practically the shark of the nes port in this game. It's very vicious, it bounces up and down all around the area and I have no idea how to read it just yet. It will kill you though
Reached the end of bmx in 1:32:37, it is not as hard as I though but it does not read the a button very well. Alot of the time it's better to just stay in a straight line and passively avoid. Staying near the rails for most of it and then when there is a big ramp with a log there is a trick that makes you horizontal and gives you more room, faster and easier than jumping lol
I was planning on running it, I accidentally got really far on bmx once lol
I originally thought you had to tap up and down on roller skate to move, it does give you a nice boost, escpecially big you do it fast. Maybe you could boost everytime to start and move up to the top to crash you could definitely save some time, also maybe you could crash earlier on bmx
This would mean the Sega Genesis port would be the same. Which reminds me, That port IS on the site but not under the series page, Its moderated by YoBGS, He is still a little active. He is actually streaming right now. He has no idea why its like that but I guess we could try to push it together
Omg that pdf saved my life, unlike the NES port in this you have to speed up to be allowed to turn, That is so funny how that was haunting me
This should be a thing on all the games, NES is 9 milliseconds away from under 2:01 but alot of top records are between 2:01:50 and 2:03
In a game were 1 second means the difference between 1st and 5th I think it would help alot of people feel more motivated to not be pigeonholded. The con would be we lose 2 first place times on that port. Other than that it would keep everything very competitive
Cant read 2 inputs at once. Im using the latest version and everything else works on the other cores and roms ive used, Im using wired xbox one controller. Im also running on pc. No inputs are contradicting.
Well I can move everything else it turns out, but it wont let me move in half pipe, maybe ! have a setting with contradicting inputs since it needs you to use 2 buttons at once? After I fix it I can get at least third place instantly
So, I got the retroarch core used and I'm having the same problems, I dunno if its the controller Im using because Im using an xbox one controller and its worked for everything else I'e ever tried. the rom works fine but my dpad only works on the game menu and not in the events. Again It works with NES port but not with this. I even tried changing ports up and using keyboard and nothing changed. It was this was with bizhawk and on both pcs that I tried, Im using retroarch 1.9.0
In terms of instant skips slowing down to a stop instead of crashing on half pipe is supposed to be an instant loss, it skips the other 2 attempts. That is in the NES version. While I'm here idk if it's the rom having issues but I can't really get the sega genesis rom to work well with the emu I'm using, what emulator are you guys using for sms and genesis? Is it bizhawk? Maybe I'll try retroarch with sometime
A TAS on the other ports would be interesting, a TAS on California games 2 would be cool considering there is a glitch that hasn't been mastered on snowboard, It saves like a whole second
On the other ports of the game you flip on bmx before going down the hill, I dont know how it works in the sms version. If you can't do the flip earlier than that seems like a good run
I JUST got back onto this site after months and decide this might be my next game to run, I think if the mod can see that enough of us want a change in categories it will happen. It is actually something that is on a clock cuz you wouldn't want this kind of change way later when you have 15-20 people freaking out about someone losing the grandmaster position. I do notice as of like 20 seconds after posting this is noted in rules but it will alot less of an eyesore for many im sure once its tabled
Hello, I'm Long, robot with weird taste in speedrunning. I recently became the world record holder for California games 1 on NES and 2 for SNES, and awaiting wr verification on Olympic summer games 96. If you have any ideas for silly novelty speedrun games that aren't very popular, I would love to try.
Theres "alot?" I wouldn't have thought that many were interested, but it would give me a reason to actually get good at the game not just wr with fastest way to die lol. Even so i'm sorta still new to this site so I've never seen a leaderboard that isn't time based. You could add a point requirement for each sport but a score based board instead of a time based one seems to contradict the idea of "speedrun." I am glad that people care about this game though. It is a funny game.
Eyes is a classic old horror game for mobile, its a slender clone but it would be cool if someone could speedrun it. I dont think its been delisted yet so you could probs be one of the first.
Edit: turns out there are alot of speedrunners for it, but it seems like your kind of pace!
