@lessaid that skip has been there since 1.00; I didn't think much of it since you can't skip RPD and also do the tower skip since both need the falling floor, and skipping RPD obviously saves more time. I agree that some sort of "all bosses" category would be more interesting than what we currently have but I'm not sure that it should replace the current category.
It makes no sense to have the different patches in the same category, the early skip for 2nd runs saves around 4 minutes over doing it in the library, and the early skip isn't possible on 1.03. It's not a case of how hard it is to do the glitch, but where you can still do it; even the new sewer skip isn't in the same spot as it was before for the same reason and it adds a few minutes to the run as well, there is no way 1.03 can compete with 1.00 and even if new skips were found to make up for the time, it would be a very different route that would warrant a separate category anyway. As I see it there are only 2 sensible choices: 1 reject old patch 2 separate the patches
PS: I haven't kept up too much with the forum lately so if I missed any relevant info about the skips please give me an update.
I didn't test for very long but I couldn't get the courtyard skip to work either, it seems that now you need a handrail to correct your height.
The frame with the title is definitely odd, the camera jump seems like it is adjusting after the door closes behind him.
Some weapons do more damage the higher the fps and stair skating is also affected by FPS if I'm not mistaken. I don't know how it affect this category since I don't run it but it's in the rules that your FPS must be capped at 60 or 120 so I guess there's nothing you can do about it.
His FPS never goes above 120, that means that it's capped at 120, in your footage you can see that the fps goes above 120. Capping your FPS just means that it can't go higher than the value you set (in this case it would be 120), it can still go below that and that's not a problem. There's a sticky thread in the forum on how to cap your FPS properly.
You have uncapped FPS, you must cap your FPS to 120 or 60 for the run to be valid in that category.
RE7 uses OOB in the main category. The reality is that most people just submit in the main category because that's what has the most people anyway and competing alone isn't fun.
A sequence break is just accessing an area before it was intended, right now we achieve that through OOB but let's say a way was found to use any key in any door so that you could access locked areas before the G1 fight. That's just the first thing that came to mind but I guess you get what I mean.
Airwalking is also abusing an animation and I wouldn't consider it OOB but I can see the argument for it, anyway that's not the point of the thread, I don't really care about what is permitted and what isn't as long as we know; speedrunning is made of arbitrary rules so everyone needs to know what is accepted in any given category. On that topic, would a sequence break or skip be allowed in the main category? From the previous answers I would assume not but I just want to be sure.
How would airwalking be classified? Is the main category meant to be played as intended without skips or sequence breaks?
In the same way, OOB is a lack of collision checks, and they would need to add it in to fix the game, the fact that you don't see the collision wall doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Whether it comes from incompetence or laziness a glitch is still a glitch.
I meant it as what's allowed in the main category. I take it that glitched would allow any glitch but what kind of glitches are allowed in the main category is unclear.
Every glitch is bad game development, if games were coded perfectly there would be no glitch to be found.
The OOB category got renamed in Glitched so I think we need some rules on what is allowed in the regular category and what isn't. As it stands glitched doesn't mean much since the main category still allows glitches like stair skating.
While airwalking was first made known by vipeazone I haven't seen a video of the oob in the spot I've shown in the op, I myself have learned the arwalking glitch from his videos, still there are possibilities with the glitch that he might not know about or didn't post yet.
