Information from the **Kuri Kuri Mix: User Guide**

- *"There are a total of **2 gifts** in each world, for a total of 16"*
- *"There is **1 portrait piece** hidden in each stage (stages 1-4) in each world"*

**Note:** With that said, this guide will only be sharing the locations of the gifts and not the portrait pieces. This is because the pieces are more obvious and easy to find, since they're in each level (1-4). The gifts are also incredibly hard to find if you don't know what to look for.

Individual Levels WR vs Any% Co-op WR (Potential Time Saves) [OUTDATED]

This is a document I made to showcase where potential time saves can be found when comparing the IL's and our Any% Co-op WR. This might be useful to focus practicing certain levels more than others if they have a bigger time save to gain from them. It might not be that useful for other runners, but it might be good to know where the WR can still gain much time at.

Music World: Stage 4 - Puzzle Combinations

*These notes are the once me and Ico used in our WR runs to help with knowing what possible combination RNG we had. Keep in mind these are just some few ones we've taken note of, but I'm sure there's a dozens more than these.*

The way these combinations are written are simply starting with the left side and counting the first piano key as 1. So when I write 7, I mean the 7th key counted from the left to right.

- 7-4-3
- 7-5-1
- 1-6-4
- 2-4-6
- 3-4-7

PAL vs NTSC Differences

*If you know any more differences or if I wrote something incorrect, feel free to message me so I can fix it!*

**The Main Differences**

- PAL runs at 50fps while NTSC runs at 60fps
- PAL will start with 120s on each level, while NTSC only starts with 100s. I assume this is to make up for the slower framerate to make it more fair.
- PAL can only achieve times in even decimals: .00 / 0.02 / 0.04 / 0.06 or 0.08
- NTSC can only achieve times in certain decimals: .00 / 0.01 / 0.03 / 0.05 / 0.06 or 0.08.

**This Causes Some Issues**

- The timer keeps ticking as the same rate as it would on NTSC, so pared with slower framrate and thus movement you will lose tons of time by playing on PAL. 
- I'm not sure if there being different achievable decimals between the version is anything that will affects runs, but it's worth noting at least.

# **Conclusion: Play on NTSC**

If you got the option, stay away from PAL and play on NTSC. Not only will you save tons of time, but it just feels so much smoother and more fun playing it too!

PS2 vs PS3 Differences

**Emulating Shadows**

- It turns out that the PS3 version of the game, which is available digitally on the PSN Store, doesn't properly show shadows like the PS2 version does.

**Example #1 - Magical World: Stage 1**
The crane has no shadows, which is the point of reference to easily navigate it properly. Without this makes it  much harder, but it's not the end of the world.

**Example #2 - Magical World: Stage 5**
Once again the issue of PS3 having no shadows shown makes this boss fight a fucking nightmare. The whole point of this fight is to see the shadow to then know which one to hit. Thus you're forced to simply guess every single hit, except the first one which is always guaranteed in the same place that is.

**Example #2 - Desert World: Stage 5**
You can still tell which direction he is going, but it's easy to get confused and either way you won't know exactly the location he will land.

And of course the final boss will also have no shadow indications which makes it impossible to know where he will land. Thus the only strat is just to preemptively fire and hope for the best.

# **Conclusion: PS2 is the only viable console**

While some might be less impactful than others and still possible, just more annoying to deal with, the Magical World boss fight just sadly kills any possibility of runs ever happening on PS3. You can still do IL's and whatnot, but any full-game runs won't be able to get past this RNG nightmare of guessing every hit. So runs will have to be done on PS2 unless you really want an extreme challenge.

Scoring and Ranks

# Rank

Ranks are determined by score given the following ranges with S being the highest

- S: >= 3000
- A: 2499 - 2999
- B: 2000 - 2499
- C: 1500 - 1999
- D: 1000 - 1499
- E: < 1000

# Score

There are two main ways to increase your score, remaining time and defeating enemies. If you are struggling to get an S rank on a specific level and it seems like it is impossible even going through quickly then make sure you aren't missing any extra time clocks. A handful of clocks are actually given by talking to the hint roosters, at least one requires talking to them twice to get it.

### Remaining Time

Time adds 10 score for every second you have remaining at the end of a level, the one caveat is that the displayed time rounds up heavily so if you have a remaining time of 289 showing then your end score will be something like 2883 assuming your actual time remaining is really 288.3.

The two main ways to increase this bonus is to quickly run through the levels but also to make sure you grab any and all extra time clocks as those give 20s (200 score) and 50s (500 score) respectively. I have not found any clocks that were not worth the extra time spent to get them since none of them should take more than 20 seconds but there may be some exceptions.

### Defeating Enemies

The other main way to increase score is by defeating enemies. Every enemy has a different score value with some being very negligible and others being absolutely necessary for S rank. Below is a table summarizing the enemies in each level, their count and their point values to get an idea of how much time they are worth.

Understanding Artic 5

Did a bit of a deep dive with my friend PapayaJordane after Kefka14 & I were struggling to match the pace of Nordanix & Ominij's CoOp WR IL; Here is some of the things we found!

Found by PapayaJordane, it turns out the Boss has a long idle animation that must be finished before the boss will decide it's next action! ( Throw Iceberg, Call for help, or Another Idle Cycle ) The long idle animation goes Tail Wiggle to the side, then Two Nose "boops" forward, into a Tail Wiggle to the other side followed by another Two nose "boops" forward. This seemed like RNG for the longest time with the boss "randomly" standing there not wanting to throw and iceberg, but since the idle animation is cancelable by getting hit by an ice berg you can beat the boss faster by resetting the boss's idle animation at the correct time so the idle animation ends on top of the next "Throw Iceberg" Trigger! No more need to try and hit the boss as fast as possible anymore :D

Next found by 7thArmstrong, You can actually prevent the "Call for help" from the boss, preventing penguins from getting spawned! After understanding Idle Animation, you can time one of the rabbits to strategically drown right before the boss is done the idle animation, I usually aim to fall in the water after the First 2 Nose Boops. Since both rabbits are not "In Play" the boss seems to skip over the call for help and continues into the next idle cycle! Also note that it seems Throwing an Iceberg takes priority over Calling for Help. Lucky!

The fight is no longer an RNG feeling nightmare, and is now entirely skill based positioning on ice physics lol


Understanding Tumble 3 OoB

Listing out all the info 7thArmstrong and Kefka14 know about this OoB in hopes of helping others get more consistent as well!

Remember the most important thing that helps with consistency is to not pressure your partner while attempting/learning this, especially in a full run setting! Since this trick requires a lot of focus and is at the end of the run, it can be very stressful! Be mindful of what breaks your partners concentration on this trick and your consistency will grow together <3

First thing to understand is that the camera angle affects the success rate greatly! Once Cookie is across the river, we like to zoom the camera in to help limit the variation in the camera angles while attempting the OoB with both characters as well as zooming in helps with Cookie's side setup after the OoB. 

It is recommended to kill the two knights before attempting the OoB. If you do not, cookie has 2 sometimes 3 chances to get OoB, while Cream only has 1 or sometimes 2 chances to get OoB before the Knight gets in the way.

The first part of the setup is to get on the ledge and run forward into the wall near the ledge you want to jump from. This seems to help get the rabbit's speed up increasing consistency. For the first jump, Cookie seems to have a higher success rate with getting the Coyote Time off the ledge, while Cream seems to perform better without getting the Coyote Jump. This may be due to Cookie's hopping cycle, unclear. The trick on both sides can be done with or without the Coyote time, just seems more inconsistent.

Also timing to do the attempts at near the same time also seems to help, but is not needed. Again having the camera in a similar position to your partner seems to help increase success rate drastically.

After jumping off the ledge you will be aiming for the 2nd farther column outlined in yellow. The center of Cookie's shadow should be lined up with middle of the column, while the center of Cream's shadow should be slightly to the left of the middle part of the column( If 50% was the middle, then about 25% aka the middle of the gap between the edge and middle of the column).

Once the shadow is in position, you must hold towards the wall to have the rabbits face the wall before doing the air jump! If the rabbits are not facing the wall before the jump, the failure rate increases drastically! 

For Cookie, while holding directly left, fall slightly until Cookie's nose is pointed towards the intersection of the red cross, then press jump again while continuing to hold directly left!

For Cream, while holding directly right, fall slightly until Cream's nose is pointed towards the intersection of the red cross, then press jump again while continuing to hold directly right!

This trick is precise, but success rate increases with practice! Don't give up!

When one rabbit is in the wall, don't run off! Instead line up with where your partner is trying to clip OoB and jump when they jump! This also seems to help with the success rate after one clips and not the other!

With the next part, Cream's side doesn't have much to worry about since they are Sword Knights, however on Cookie Side there is a further setup to get around the Lance Knights. While Cookie is walking towards the first Knight, wiggle left until cookie's ear no longer shows outside the stone wall. This will get you past the first Lance Knight's Attack! Next when Cookie becomes visible again, line up the flower pot with the tiles shown in the picture to dodge the other two Lance Knights attacks. Don't go too far left or you will fall off the map, the edge is when you are mostly on the tile left in the picture so don't have the flower pot farther than the edge between the two tiles! If any of the attack hit you off the edge, you have to mash the jump button very fast while holding left to get away from their attacks... best to avoid since even this backup is not consistent and drains time quickly!

After you are past the Knights you can double jump onto the platforms used to hit boss and double jump around the corner to the end! Will take a bit to get the feel for it but comes with some practice.
