Is there a program or method available I can use to start a level on a specified framerule on an emulator? (I use FCEUX.)
Yep you can use the pellson rom. If you cant find it heres a link for the forum threat. https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/thread/dg86r
First question: yes Second question: what do you mean by patch?
You'll need to apply the patch that you download with LunarIPS as mentioned on this post:
Okay another question with the ROM: should it have the same RNG as the original game? I keep loading the same frame rule on normal ROM and the practice ROM but I get completely different RNG.
Yes it will have the same rng provided that you're in the same rule with the same powerups and haven't been hit or died.
You're probably just not on the same rule. It can be difficult to figure out exactly what rule you should be on... Even using pellssons sheet that tells you in his site. If the rule isn't what you expected it to be, try going up or down a couple rules until you find the rng that you expect
What level is this on that you're having the different patterns? If it's a level that's hard to play consistently like 8-2 you will get different patterns during the level due to the inconsistencies.
8-3. I'm trying to learn the hammer bro patterns for all of the framerules I might be on during a run so I won't die as often.
In that case you have play this level the same way every time, so no bullet bill or koopa stomping. In this game almost everything can change the RNG.
Sometimes I don't stomp on any enemies or slow down and the RNG is still different on the same framerule
Yeah, I don't know where the problem is. Maybe you could record a short session? That should give us a clue.
I have a comparison video that I'll upload tonight. Both ROMs start at the same framerule and shouldn't have any movement differences that would manipulate the RNG, yet the Bros at the end act differently.
This thread has already been resolved, but I'll answer anyway. On the normal ROM I have a list scripted framerule counter that shows what framerule I enter a level on.
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
