I would like to start running sm3dw again, but I  just can't handle this with a casual grip, how do you runners with high places on the leaderboard in order to be able to get fast access to the touch screen at the same time as moving around, and how do you manage to turn the camera so fast?

So my question is, how exactly am I supposed to hold the gamepad to react fast enough to what's happening on screen?

Good point there, but you haven't even ran this game, and becoming good at the game is not really a strat. I'm asking for good strategies, how to hold the fingers and thumbs in order to have a better grip and react faster. Not if I should become good at the game or not.

I do IL's. Maybe twist the cam angle so it's closer to you at a certain point and it closer and you can react to it

That wasn't what I was asking about either, I'm asking exactly how I should hold the gamepad in order to be able to turn the camera without problems and witch finger I should use for the touch screen. For example, I can't turn the camera with the thumb when the thumb is busy with the A and X button. If you don't understand the situation, please just leave me alone then. It's better if someone that has a high place on the any% leaderboard can try answer my question.

@videogamemaster22, I wonder, is there really enough time to get to the right analog stick and back on the a,b,x,y buttons? However, thanks I'm gonna try it and see if it helps. By the way, if anyone have some more tips, and explanations of how one should do this, please post it, it can be very helpful.

I personally use something we top-level runners like to call nose-strats. Pretty much how it works is your hold the gamepad normally, and when something comes up you quickly hit the gamepad with your nose so you don't have to take your hand off the gamepad.

I just reread your question, and to answer the "how do I change the camera" question, I personally hold my gamepad like this, so that I can move my camera without moving my fingers. Kinda clawgrip-esque but it works well.

@Nick_, your first post sounded like nonsense at first, but now when I think about how big the gamepad screen is, it might be worth to try it out. That could also be an explanation why 360chrism had his face so close the gamepad when doing touch strats. Maybe the gamepad wasn't as bad as people usually say after all... However, about the camera in your second post, I've been thinking about the same thing and makes sense, witch makes your first most more trust worthy. I might keep running this game, thanks! Also, if there's more stuff that top level runners usually do, keep posting.

What I do, is use middle finger for the Y button, ring finger for A, and pointer finger to use touch strats

As for turning the camera, whenever I am in mid air or something I quickly flick my thumb up to the right stick to change the camera.
